Bannon's Chinese Partner Arrested For Fraud

Guo "F Yourself" Wengui, the fugitive Chinese financier who partnered with far-right loon Steve "Loose Cannon" Bannon's in the "we build the wall" scam, was arrested yesterday and charged with defrauding his on-line followers of more than $1 billion. The fraud involved soliciting investments in several entities, promising big profits, but pocketing the money instead. From the New York Times report:

"Damian Williams, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement that Mr. Guo was 'charged with lining his pockets with the money he stole, including buying himself, and his close relatives, a 50,000-square-foot mansion, a $3.5 million Ferrari and even two $36,000 mattresses.' The money was also used to finance a $37 million luxury yacht, Mr. Williams said.

Mr. Guo, who is also known as Miles Kwok, is a business associate of Stephen K. Bannon, a onetime top adviser to former President Donald J. Trump. It was on a yacht belonging to Mr. Guo that Mr. Bannon was arrested in a fraud case in August 2020; Mr. Trump later pardoned Mr. Bannon, who had pleaded not guilty to those charges." (our emphasis)

Among those fleeced by Guo were likely MAGA morons who loved Guo's convenient hostility to the Chinese Communist Party. He also had access to the Malignant Loser and whatever information he had:

"For six years, Mr. Guo has been seen as a vocal critic of the Chinese Communist Party, endearing himself to some conservatives in the United States and many members of the Chinese diaspora. The U.S. attorney’s office issued a news release announcing his arrest in both English and Chinese. [snip]

At the same time, Mr. Guo was trying to ingratiate himself with the Trump administration. In early 2017, Mr. Guo posted pictures of himself at Mr. Trump’s Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, where Mr. Guo was then a member. Several months later, he told his many followers on social media that he had booked meetings at the Trump International Hotel in Washington."  (our emphasis)

Among the scams run by the Malignant Loser, Bannon, and Guo, one wonders if the MAGA sheep will be fully fleeced in the near future.

Another Right- Wing Disinformation Network Exposed

Well, here's a prime candidate for deportation:

A sprawling online network tied to Chinese businessman Guo Wengui has become a potent platform for disinformation in the United States, attacking the safety of coronavirus vaccines, promoting false election-fraud claims and spreading baseless QAnon conspiracies, according to research published Monday by the network analysis company Graphika.

The report, provided in advance to The Washington Post, details a network that Graphika says amplifies the views of Guo, a Chinese real estate developer whose association with former Trump White House adviser Stephen K. Bannon became a focus of news coverage last year after Bannon was arrested aboard Guo’s yacht on federal fraud charges.  [snip]

Graphika’s research sheds more light on Guo, a onetime billionaire real estate developer who, in addition to his relationship with Bannon, has drawn attention for the confusing mix of disinformation and invective he has broadcast since moving to the United States, including contradictory attacks on both the Chinese Communist Party and anti-CCP dissidents in the West.  [snip]

Information disseminated by the entities that Graphika defined as the network focuses primarily on attacking China’s political leadership, but the network also has played a loud, persistent and largely overlooked role in U.S. politics, including in fueling falsehoods — repeatedly rejected by investigators and courts — that widespread fraud marred the 2020 election.  [snip]

After the election, content across the network embraced President Donald Trump’s false election-fraud claims and the related #StoptheSteal hashtag, and promoted Trump’s plans for a Jan. 6 rally in Washington, Graphika found. During the rally and subsequent storming of the U.S. Capitol, GTV featured live streams of the action, which Guo supporters promoted on social media, along with material calling members of the mob “patriots.”

Later, GNews and other wings of the network pushed false conspiracies that the violence was the work of antifa, Graphika found.

There's more at the link on Guo's operation.

We'd be willing to bet that some additional digging would turn up connections to Falun Gong, the pseudo- religious cult that's also involved in promoting right- wing politicians and causes here and around the world through such media as The Epoch Times.  It might be worth the Federal government's time to explore Guo's operation more fully and see if his destabilizing actions merit, at the very least, deportation.
