Squeaker Johnson Cursed At By His Own Caucus

 

Smarmy, smug House Squeaker Mike "The Weasel" Johnson has had a bad week, and by bad we mean disastrous. Long known for his speaking out of both sides of his mouth, depending on who's listening, Johnson has infuriated members of his caucus by guiding legislation through that various members say he claimed he would not.  From Politico:

"Republicans say Johnson’s habit of making last-minute, often contradictory promises to keep his tiny majority functioning is starting to catch up with him. Frustrations over his leadership, they say, are at an all-time high.

'I think this guy has divided us with a smile,' said Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio), a longtime Johnson skeptic who has grown more vocal with his criticism and now says 'without question' he will vote against keeping Johnson as top GOP leader in the next Congress.

This week’s chaos came to a head late Wednesday, with multiple members of key Republican factions yelling and swearing at Johnson on the House floor and in closed-door meetings." (our emphasis)

It's without question that underlying this anger with the Squeaker is the MAGAt caucus' knowledge that they're in for a colossal drubbing in November with perhaps 40 seats flipping to Dems, despite their cynical and desperate attempts to rig the voting through gerrymandering and onerous voter suppression laws.  More:

Squeaker Johnson is putting a happy, if not honest, face on his problems, blaming "fake news" for reporting the anger at his maneuvering, according to the article.  Come November, when Johnson's fate is clearer, it's doubtful that his caucus will include him in their leadership, given his broken promises.

QOTD -- "No Obamacare"

 

Squeaker of the House MAGA Mike "Moses" Johnson (MAGA-LA) wants to assure you that, in addition to killing Roe v. Wade, MAGA Republicans want to kill the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare"), because who needs health care anyway?!

“Health care reform’s going to be a big part of the agenda," he said during a campaign event in Pennsylvania for House candidate Ryan Mackenzie, according to footage obtained by NBC News. "When I say we’re going to have a very aggressive first 100 days agenda, we got a lot of things still on the table.

“No Obamacare?” an attendee asked.

“No Obamacare,” Johnson said, reportedly with an eye-roll. “The ACA is so deeply ingrained, we need massive reform to make this work and we got a lot of ideas on how to do that.”...

Yes, and we know what those "concepts of a plan" are, and it would start with essentially repealing the ACA and fashioning a Big Insurance- backed program undermining Medicaid, raising premiums, and eliminating core protections including denying affordable health insurance for people with pre-existing conditions, while expanding programs that benefit primarily wealthy people. If that sounds like the typical Republican punching down to you, you're paying attention.
