Trading MAGA Trinkets For Medicaid Cuts

Proving there is no bottom to his movement, the Malignant Fascist -- grifting, low-information psychopath that he is -- had some Republican Representatives who weren't sold on the "One Big Beautiful Bill" for billionaires over to the White House to discuss details of the legislation  to sway them with MAGA merch in exchange for a "yes" vote:

A conga line of angsty Republican lawmakers filed through the West Wing on Wednesday, hemming and hawing about the big domestic policy bill that President Trump wants them to pass by Friday. They walked out with signed merchandise, photos in the Oval Office and, by some accounts, a newfound appreciation for the bill — targets all of a blunt-force charm offensive waged with precision by the president.  [Ed.: NYT bootlicking = access]

One White House official said Mr. Trump had a line he used on many of his phone calls and meetings with wobbly Republicans: “Don’t give the Democrats a win. Don’t play into their hands.” He got the Senate to pass a version of the bill on Tuesday. So Wednesday was spent cajoling, wheedling and coaxing Republican members of the House.

The Malignant Fascist may not have even had to do much threatening or cajoling.  His cultists are not only moral cowards, but cheap screws:

“The president was wonderful, as always,” Mr. Burchett said in the video. “Informative, funny, he told me he likes seeing me on TV, which was kind of cool.” Representative Byron Donalds, Republican of Florida, is shown in the video, too. “Did you show them what he signed for you?” Mr. Donalds asks Mr. Burchett. “Yeah, he signed a bunch of stuff,” Mr. Burchett said. “It’s cool.”

Mr. Burchett told The New York Times later on that his name had been misspelled on the placard placed in front of his chair for the Cabinet Room meeting (it was missing an “r”) so the president scribbled in the letter, signed both sides of the card and gave it to him as a souvenir. Mr. Burchett said the president also loaded up the son of Representative Chip Roy, Republican of Texas, with souvenirs...

So, to these bottom-feeding careerist chuds, it was worth it to kick millions of low- income Americans off of Medicaid in order to get their MAGA trinkets from the Malignant Fascist and avoid being the target of a nasty MF social media message.  Well, at least the New York effing Times is impressed with his "charm offensive," which we find just plain offensive.

Of course, there's much more to loath about this reverse-Robin-Hood bill and the people who backed it, which we'll cover later.

QOTD -- "Touching" Medicaid

The incompetent, illiterate, sadistic buffoon and his fascist minions will still try to lie their way out of this conundrum of their own making:

"Trump hosted a meeting with some moderates and some members of the Main Street Caucus on Wednesday, where he listened to concerns and touted the wins in the legislation, two sources told NOTUS," reported Riley Rogerson and Reese Gorman. However, "Trump still doesn’t seem to have a firm grasp about what his signature legislative achievement does. According to three sources with direct knowledge of the comments, the president told Republicans at this meeting that there are three things Congress shouldn’t touch if they want to win elections: Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security."

At this, one of the Republicans in attendance piped up and reminded him, “But we’re touching Medicaid in this bill.”

As early as February, Trump proclaimed he would not cut Medicaid even as he endorsed a House budget blueprint that all but guaranteed significant cuts to the public insurance program.  (our emphasis)

The Malignant Fascist and his cult party are not only "touching" Medicaid, they're doing what the MF did to E. Jean Carroll and countless other women.

Of course the addled moron doesn't know what's in his signature, soon-to-pass "One Big Beautiful Bill" for billionaires!  Even if he did, he'd lie about it to suit his purposes, and his credulous cult members will believe him even as they lose their Medicaid and their rural hospitals close their doors.  But, we're pretty sure he's right about MAGAt Republicans losing elections for "touching" social safety net programs like Medicaid, because we think there are just enough sentient Americans left to do just that.

QOTD -- Get Over It

"I know a lot of us are hearing from people back home about Medicaid, but they'll get over it." -- rotting sack of skin Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), in a closed-door meeting with fellow Republican Senators on Tuesday, about drastic cuts to Medicaid in the MAGAt Republican "One Big, Beautiful Bill" (for billionaires).   The "get over it" part comports with long-time Republican healthcare policy, as articulated by fellow Republican Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) in response to the effects of Medicaid cuts on her constituents:  "We are all going to die!"  Besides, they need those Medicaid (and SNAP) cuts to fund their tax cuts for billionaires giveaway!
