Colin Jost did double duty in last night's Saturday Night Live, first in the cold open as DUI hire Whiskey Pete Hegseth (with James Austin Johnson as Brainworm Bobby Kennedy, Jr.), then as himself (with Michael Che) in "Weekend Update." The latter provides some nice quips on the sub-moron Malignant Fascist's ludicrous belief he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, the upcoming livestream execution ordered by Hegseth, Hegseth's new Nazi-adjacent Department of Defense ("War") logo, and more.
In the SNL season finale cold open, Trump (James Austin Johnson) gets a visit from the ghost of Jeffrey Epstein (Will Ferrell), who shows him what's going to become of some of his past and current Cabinet members in the future. In addition to the hilarious "Weekend Update" feature, there were two musical performances by Sir Paul McCartney (here and here). Special show.

ICYMI, in last night's SNL cold open, James Austin Johnson reprises his role as the Malignant Fascist to give a rambling, slurring Christmas address that was about kings from the Middle East bringing him gifts, his mandatory daily cognitive test, putting the MF's name on presidential monuments, the Epstein files, and more ... anything but Christmas, of course.
The cold open on last night's SNL featured "Trump" (James Austin Johnson) in the Oval Office reacting when a person collapses next to him ("Just stand there and stare like a sociopath"), then moved on to grocery prices, SNAP and flight cancellations due to the Trump government shutdown, and more. Another good line ("Trump"): "A guy collapsing in the Oval Office; who'd of thought it'd be not me!"
Once again, James Austin Johnson nails his impression of Donald "Jesus" Trump as he interrupts the cleansing of the Temple on Saturday Night Live's cold open last night. Of course, the Golden Calf of the suckers of the evangelical right would have been at the very top of Jesus' cleansing list for his serial violations of the Ten Commandments, his venality, his utter evil.
Johnson goes off script for a while, to the chagrin/amusement of fellow cast members. Good work.
Maya Rudolph has the Harris impression nailed, Jim Gaffigan is great as Tim Walz, Dana Carvey reprises Joe Biden, and there's another great Trump impersonation by James Austin Johnson. But someone else made a surprise appearance last night on Saturday Night Live's cold open:
