Mid-Week Song: Lough Erin Shore

Erin go Bragh!

In recognition of St. Patrick's Day, we have one of our favorite Irish bands (and we have so many), The Corrs. Sisters Andrea, Sharon, Caroline and brother James have been performing together for over 30 years, first entertaining patrons in their aunt's pub in Dundalk, Ireland.  When they're not touring, recording or raising their families, they are involved in philanthropy, for causes ranging from disaster relief to HIV/AIDS awareness. Here is their version of the traditional Irish song "Lough Erin Shore," performed on MTV Unplugged several years ago.

Éirinn go Brách!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to the full Irish, part Irish, and the honorary Irish (i.e. the rest of the world)! Be of good cheer and be safe in your celebrations and travels.

Here's the Irish quartet, The Corrs -- sisters Andrea, Sharon, Caroline and brother James -- playing the traditional Irish folk tune
"Toss The Feathers."

Mid-Week Song

Celtic folk rock band The Corrs consists of three sisters -- Andrea, Sharon and Caroline -- and their brother James, who have been turning out great music since they formed as a band in 1990 in Dundalk, Ireland.  They've been nominated for two Grammys and have won the BRIT Award for their fusion of traditional Celtic folk sounds with modern rock. To their great credit, they are very active in philanthropic work, including promoting HIV/AIDS awareness in Africa, and various disaster relief fundraisers.  Their new album, "White Heat", is being released this week, and we're featuring a single off of that album, "Bring on the Night," recorded at Church Studios in London. Enjoy.

St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day.  It's good to be Irish (even if only one-eighth)!  Erin go bragh!

BONUS: And because we can't get enough Irish music on St. Patrick's Day, here's a traditional fiddle and pipe tune courtesy of the lovely Corrs ladies, with their brother on piano.

Early "Mid"-Week Song

The Irish pop/folk quartet The Corrs have been making wonderful music for years. They performed at the 1996 Summer Olympics and won many fans in the States, and have gone on to release several albums that have gone platinum internationally. The band is made up of three very lovely sisters and their brother (playing acoustic guitar, and who happens to be celebrating his birthday today). Enjoy this lilting Irish folk-style cover of a Jimi Hendrix tune.
