Weekend Music

LA- based Weezer released their 15th studio album, "Van Weezer," last month.  "I Need Some Of That" preceded the album release by a month and is our song today.  As the album title indicates, it's an homage to classic/ power rock bands, so you may notice they interpolated parts of "Heat of the Moment" by Asia, and "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," by Blue Öyster Cult in this song.  Hope you enjoy.

Weekend Music Twofer

On this date in 1965, The Beatles got their sixth (or eighth depending on the chart) number 1 hit with a song from the "Help!" soundtrack, "Ticket to Ride."  George Harrison's chiming lead- in on his Rickenbacker 12- string guitar (not shown here) just stops you in your tracks.

Weezer dedicates this song, "Hero," to "the stay at home dreamers, the zoom graduators, the sourdough bakers, and the essential workers."  Rivers Cuomo has a note at the end expanding on this.

Weekend Music

Los Angeles based Weezer released its eponymous album (also referred to as "The Green Album") in 2001. The album, including this cut, "Island in the Sun," was produced by The Cars' Ric Ocasek. The band made two videos of the song; this one was directed by Spike Jonze, and was filmed in glorious California sun in Simi Valley with a small menagerie.  Hope you enjoy.
