Rethug Hypocrite of the Week

"Republican Congressional candidate Paul Babeu, currently serving as a sheriff in Arizona, stepped down on Saturday from his position as the co-chair for the Mitt Romney presidential campaign in the state, after an explosive allegation from a Mexican man, who claims to be his ex-boyfriend, that Babeu threatened him with deportation to Mexico.

"'Sheriff Babeu has stepped down from his volunteer position with the campaign so he can focus on the allegations against him,' Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul confirmed in an email to The Huffington Post. 'We support his decision.'

"In a press conference Saturday, Babeu said the allegations are false, but confirmed that he is gay, something he had not previously discussed. According to a tweet by the Arizona Capitol Times from the speech, 'I am gay,' he said.

"The Phoenix New-Times broke the story about the Mexican man, which it referred to by only his first name, Jose. Babeu is both a staunch Republican and a hawk on border security -- making the allegations all the more surprising and potentially damaging." (emphasis added)

All the while his constituents thought he was patrolling the border, the self-loathing hypocrite was really just trolling the border.

Paging Mark Foley, Paging Mark Foley

Disgraced former Rethuglican Rep. Mark "Unholy" Foley is considering a run for mayor of West Palm Beach, FL, according to the Huffington Post. Unholy Foley was forced to resign his position in 2006 after lewd e-mails from him to underage House pages were revealed. There were also allegations by former House pages that they had sexual relations with Unholy once they turned 18, and allegations of frequent inappropriate contact with male pages. Not surprisingly, Unholy was a frequent supporter of anti-gay legislation, or in his case, "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" legislation.

The "Right-Wing Gay's Judy Garland?"

Suspected (by me) transgendered wingnut harridan (M)Ann Coulter will be the headliner at "Homocon 2010," a conference of gay right-wingers being held in September. The conference will be held in the men's room at the Minneapolis airport (just kidding - but they likely could accommodate all the self-loathing gay wingnuts in there). More laughable is her being touted as the "homocon's Judy Garland!" One wonders how finely the acerbic Ms. Garland would have sliced and diced the homophobic Coulter had they ever met!

Now, I could have understood if they dubbed her the "homocon's Ru Paul."

"Outrage"

Opening in many theaters this weekend is the Kirby Dick (it's o.k. to laugh) film "Outrage," a documentary about the sexual hypocrites that apparently fill the Rethuglican congressional caucus. The "outrage?" That these deeply closeted clowns (think less-risk-taking Larry Craig types) consistently rail and vote against gay rights by day while getting a little on the down low at night -- well, in Craig's case, not even waiting until night. As Rep. Barney Frank puts it, gay pols "have a right to privacy but not a right to hypocrisy."

The WaPo's Dan Zak has the review, which indicates that a Rethug pol unnamed in Zak's review (but named by, um, Dick in the movie) is a prime focus of the documentary; Zak says only that he may be bound for the 2012 presidential race (well, he might have been until the movie comes out).

Can't wait to see who the mystery stud is. I might've guessed Missy McConnell or Lindsay Graham, but neither of them is a prospective 2012 presidential possibility. Gov. Crist? Not in Congress. Hmmm. We'll have to give that some thought. Any ideas welcome.

UPDATE: A more careful reading of Zak's review reveals that the unnanmed hypocrite with 2012 ambitions is not necessarily in Congress. Therefore, it could be a Governor, former officeholder, etc. So that pretty much leaves it wide open.

UPDATE-IER: According to "Rightpundits.com", the sanctimonious sodomist IS Gov. Charlie Crist (FL). Not a big whup... old news.
