American Taliban's Dobson Enters Kentucky Fray

... and hilarity ensues. Seems "Focus on the Family" Ayatollah-emeritus James Dobson was misled about Rethug Senatorial candidate Trey Grayson by "senior members of the GOP" when he recently endorsed the GOP establishment fave. Now the Ayatollah is recanting his earlier "embarrassing mistake" of an endorsement of Grayson and instead is converting to uber-wingnut Rand "The Sprinklerhead" Paul in the Rethug primary.

And the Rethugs continue their inexorable march to the right - right off the cliff. Onward un-Christian soldiers!

Wingnut Purity Purge

You've got to watch what you say in Wingnuttia, especially if you hope to keep your wingnut welfare. Former Bush speechwriter David Frum, who compellingly wrote about the capture of the Rethug Party by extremists after passage of health insurance reform legislation (calling it the Rethugs' Waterloo), has parted ways with the American Enterprise Institute. Calling it "unexpected", Frum's resignation/ termination may mean yet another right-wing light has decided not to follow the Rethugs over the cliff (others of note being Charles Johnson, Christopher Buckley and Andrew Sullivan).

Welcome to reality, Mr. Frum!

TBogg has the sad story of how some in the tea party movement are having at each other (although from the looks of some of them, they haven't had a "movement" in a while). Petty power struggles, litmus tests, money issues, lawsuits... can't these superpatriots just get along? There's so much more astroturfing to be done and so little time!

Wingnut Slapdown!

At a meeting of the Western Conservative Political Action Committee (WCPAC), paleoconservative David "Peachy" Keene (head of the right-wing American Conservative Union) was sandbagged by uber right-wing psycho John "Ladies' Man" Ziegler, an extreme fan of former Gov. Winky You Betcha and an all-around douchebag when it comes to women. At one point after some nasty questioning, Peachy calls Ziegler an "asshole" (accurate and not especially newsworthy), and proceeds to bar Ziegler from the WCPAC proceedings. Hee hee.

Could this start another fracture within the wingnut world? Not with the lightly-regarded, fifth-class Ladies' Man involved, but hope springs eternal.
