Our Broken Media: Rump Rehab Edition

As we've noted before, it's only a matter of time when our broken political press signs up to the new, improved, "Presidential" story for neo-fascist buffoon Donald "Rump" Trump.  Nobel Prize laureate Paul Krugman's column in today's New York Times looks at the media's role in the upcoming election, and concedes that it's going to be frustrating, as the Beltway media and assorted Rethuglican-wired pundits and courtiers are expected to downplay Rump's extremism and bigotry, play their favorite false equivalence games, and portray the election as "close," even when it may not be, to ensure eyes on the TV tube.

Part of this rehabilitation of Rump by the media will be ignoring his deceitful claims of opposing the Iraq war from the outset, which many in the press are not challenging despite ample opportunities. We've already seen Rump playing the press by his telephone call-in habits, and just the other night, NBC trundled its equipment and staff off to Trump Towers to have a televised audience with the Pope Rump.

It's going to get more and more maddening, and we're 188 days to the election. Hang on.
