As Bob Herbert noted in the NY Times, the ACORN "controversy" is a smokescreen for the Rethugs to challenge legitimate minority and other Democratic voters in the upcoming election. The small sample of voter registration forms made out to "Mickey Mouse" or "Snoop Dogg" have been flagged by ACORN prior to submitting to local Board of Elections. Will "Mickey Mouse" show up to vote? Riiiiigght! It's a consistent tactic of the Rethugs in their attempts to steal elections.
Here's a good synopsis of the Rethuglican game plan. Keep votes down, especially among young, minority, and elderly Americans, and the Rethugs keep their claws on the levers of power.
