Our entertainment desk reports that the lovely British actress, Julie Christie, turns 70 today (whaaaat?). Famous for her roles in the '60s and '70s in such movies as Darling (Academy Award, Best Actress), Fahrenheit 451, Dr. Zhivago, McCabe and Mrs. Miller, and Shampoo, Christie was a key figure in the vibrant artistic scene in '60s London. Most recently, she played the lead in Away from Her, a movie about a couple dealing with Alzheimer's disease, for which she received an Academy Award Best Actress nomination.
Full disclosure: in the mid-'60s, this Hackwhacker had a bit of an adolescent crush on her. Not that she's lost anything over the years: she placed 9th in FHM Magazines' list of the 100 sexiest women of all time. Happy Birthday. . .dammit.
