Obama In Puerto Rico

President Obama pays an official visit to Puerto Rico today, the first by a sitting U.S. President in years. He'll see beautiful, historic Old San Juan and meet with the Governor at his 16th century residence, La Fortaleza, before attending a fundraiser. The visit is being seen as evidence of the growing political influence of Puerto Ricans in U.S. elections, particularly in Florida, where over 800,000 make their homes. They are natural Democratic voters, unlike Cubans who tend to vote Rethuglican. There are now more Puerto Ricans living on the mainland than on the island for the first time.

While we hope the President enjoys his visit to Puerto Rico (or "Poco Eeko" as some toddlers used to say), he should stay longer next time and enjoy what the beautiful island offers.
