A New Weekend Habit

Unlike days of yore, this Hackwhacker watches little in the way of Sunday talk shows these days. Shows like Press the Meat are dominated by Rethug politicians (Sen. John McNasty always pops up) and right wing spin meisters, and feature panelists who talk over one another and filibuster so that opposing, progressive views don't receive an airing. Same with the weak fare on the regularly lame CNN, also known as "Fox Lite."

I found a refreshing change this weekend on MSNBC watching the new "Up With Chris Hayes." It airs Saturday at 7 a.m. Eastern, and on Sunday at 8 a.m. Eastern. Hayes has a good mix of guests, but the difference is that he brings an intelligence and wit to the discussion, and each guest has an opportunity to speak without annoying talk overs by other guests. A progressive, Hayes also has facts to back his opinions, and will challenge right wing myth-makers without hesitation. When was the last time Dancin' Dave Gregory did that?

They are shows worth watching.
