Breast Cancer Loses One Potential Victim

Body image is central to the way a lot of people define themselves, for better or worse, particularly for those in the entertainment industry.  That why it was so important that Angelina Jolie took the potentially life-saving step of having a pre-emptive double mastectomy surgery, since she inherited the genetic predisposition for both breast and ovarian cancer.  If this encourages more women to go for testing and evaluation, and if their genetic markers indicate a strong likelihood of breast or ovarian cancer, to take the necessary surgical treatment, then by going public, Jolie may have saved countless lives by her example.  Well done, and she's more gorgeous -- and healthy -- than ever.

Many insurance companies do not cover this procedure. She is fortunate to be able to afford it.

It's terrible that a preventative, life saving measure isn't covered by most insurance companies. That's why we need a public option.
