Yesterday's crash of Asiana Airlines flight 214 at San Francisco International Airport could have claimed the lives of all of its 307 passengers and crew. Amazingly, only two passengers died, 182 were injured, dozens seriously, and the remaining passengers escaped without injuries. Survivors credit the quick action of ground safety crews and city and county firefighters for the low number of fatalities.
Witnesses describe the plane as dipping its wing as it approached the runway, with the plane's wing and tail breaking off. The flight originated in Shanghai, with a stop in Seoul. A team from the National Transportation Safety Board is in San Francisco this morning, and will begin the investigation into the cause of the crash.
