(Apologies to the late Amy Winehouse) Up until yesterday, Toronto's rotund, cartoonish mayor Rob Ford was on a fast track to an early death with his pathological abuse of alcohol and cocaine. When a video of Ford smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine last Saturday surfaced in the press, Ford took a leave of absence from his post and decided to seek rehabilitation for his addictions.
Funny as Ford was for his antics and for poking fun at himself, he clearly needs professional help, and perhaps this treatment will give him a new lease on life.
