"Trust"

As we've noted before, nearly as important as electing a Democrat to the White House is electing a Democratic Senate in 2016. In the balance are not only preserving the gains of Democratic administrations over the past 55 years, but moving ahead on minimum wage, immigration reform, equal pay and other stalled initiatives.  And then, of course, there's the current, all-important vacancy on the Supreme Court (and potential vacancies over the next 4 to 8 years).

There are a handful of vulnerable Republican Senators in states that voted for President Obama in 2008 and 2012, among them Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois (who was one of the 47 Rethug seditionists who signed the letter to the mullahs in Iran last year).  Running against him is the courageous and effective Iraq War veteran Rep. Tammy Duckworth (whom we'd love to see in the White House some day, but first things first).  Duckworth lost both legs when the Blackhawk helicopter she was piloting was shot down, and she's been attacked in a nasty ad by Kirk as someone you can't trust.  That prompted this hard-hitting response by the VoteVets.org group:

Kirk might also want to avoid any comparison of his questionable military record with that of decorated (Purple Heart, Air Medal and more) Rep. Duckworth.  So, "trust" her? As the Marine at the end of the ad says, it's not even close: Duckworth.

(Here's Rep. Duckworth's campaign site, if you'd like to contribute)
