Seventy- five (!) years ago today, one of the greatest rock stars of her generation was born in Port Arthur, Texas.  Those clues should be enough to tell you we're talking about the late, great Janis Joplin, who died of a heroin overdose in 1970 at the age of 27, an enormous tragedy coming just a few weeks after the untimely death of Jimi Hendrix.
