Republican Values: Sex Trafficking Edition
Timothy Nolan, a former Kentucky county district judge and a co-chair of sexual predator Donald "Rump" Trump's 2016 campaign in Kentucky, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for human trafficking. Pleading guilty to 21 counts of human trafficking, Nolan was also fined $100,000. The charges stem from years of Nolan extorting sex from female prisoners under the age of 18 in return for lenient treatment and often drugs.
Nolan has been a well-known player in right-wing politics in Kentucky, campaigning for Rump in 2016 and on conservative issues for years. The conviction fits with a striking pattern of right-wing Rethuglicans involved in sex-related crimes, along with other felonies. Of course, Rethug party leader Rump has yet to be held to account for the numerous charges of sexual abuse and misconduct by 18 women, so the pattern starts with a party/ideology/leader that demeans women and tacitly accepts powerful men engaging in sexual misconduct.
