Republican Crime Blotter -- Bribery Edition (UPDATED)

When they're not committing voter suppression and election fraud, those North Carolina Republicans, like their brethren elsewhere, just have to be up to no good:
North Carolina's largest political donor and three others, including the chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, have been indicted on bribery charges.
Greg Lindberg, John Palermo, John Gray and Robin Hayes were indicted last month, but the indictments were unsealed Tuesday. They're all accused of trying to bribe state Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey.
Hayes is also charged with three counts of making false statements to the FBI.
Hayes is a former congressman and GOP candidate for governor. On Monday, he announced that he wouldn't seek another term as chairman of the state Republican Party.
Hayes and Lindberg were also indicted on wire fraud charges.

We talk about the "rotted out Republican Party" all the time:  from the lowest ranks of frothing, know- nothing red hats to the leadership comprised of lying, cynical, bigoted, authoritarian crooks, this is a party that has comfortably and permanently settled into the bottom of the political cesspool.  Stuff like this is par for the course, though the grasping gall of these jamokes never ceases to amaze.

UPDATE:  The investigation seems to have implicated a Republican Congressman- cum- Pastor as well.  Hallelujah!
