One of the best folk rock / indie rock bands anywhere, The Lumineers have a compelling sound, and have become one of the top touring bands in the U.S., following their 2012 infectious song "Ho Hey." Their next album "III" will be out in September, but last month they released a single from the album, "Gloria." It's a trenchant song about alcoholism in a family. The band's lead singer Wesley Schultz explained the song this way:
“Gloria is an addict. Her character was inspired by a member of my family, and no amount of love or resources could save her. She’s now been homeless for over a year. Loving an addict is like standing among the crashing waves, trying to bend the will of the sea.”
