Dispatches From Trumplandia

This is your occasional glimpse into the fetid swamps of Trumplandia.  Prepare not to be surprised.

Thou Shalt Not Kill -- Unless It's Your Former Son-In-Law
A former member of President Donald Trump’s evangelical advisory board is under investigation for allegedly trying to hire a hitman to murder his former son-in-law.
James MacDonald, founder of Harvest Bible Chapel, was accused by his former bodyguard Emmanuel “Manny” Bucur and Chicago radio personality Mancow Muller of seeking someone to kill former son-in-law Tony Groves, reported independent journalist Julie Roys.
So is anyone surprised he'd be on Trump's evangelical advisory board?  Didn't think so.

Boys Will Be Boys
Tennessee's embattled House speaker said Tuesday that he plans to resign from his leadership post following a vote of no confidence by his Republican caucus amid a scandal over explicit text messages.  [snip]
The demands began earlier this month, when it was revealed that [State Rep. Glen] Casada had exchanged text messages containing sexually explicit language about women with his former chief of staff several years ago.
When they're not busy trying to control a woman's reproductive freedom, they love sexting about women's bodies to their puerile buds.  Or, when they're not sexting, they're...

Literally Punch Drunk
A south Mississippi lawmaker punched his wife in the face after she didn't undress quickly enough when the lawmaker wanted to have sex, according to a police report in the case.
Republican state Rep. Doug McLeod of Lucedale was arrested Saturday on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. [snip]
Deputies reported McLeod was drunk and holding a glass of alcohol when they arrived at the family's home Saturday night. Deputies report McLeod had punched his wife and bloodied her nose. They found blood on the bed and bedroom floor. [snip]
When deputies entered, they said two women were standing at the top of a stairwell and both appeared frightened. McLeod's wife eventually came outside after deputies assured her they would keep her away from her husband.
The deputy said McLeod's wife was shaking and upset. McLeod's wife said her husband was drunk and "just snapped," as he often does when under the influence of alcohol, the report said.
Another woman present said McLeod's wife came running up to her room, her face bloodied. The woman shut the door and locked it with McLeod's wife inside.
A deeply heartfelt apology, some time in alcohol abuse and marriage counseling, and this turd will be ready to go back legislating from the wellspring of his deep moral convictions.

The rotted out Republican Party, ladies and gentlemen.
