Before Trump, this would have been a nonsensical cartoon, ha ha ha. Now it's totally possible. And probable.

We have to make sure Trump's fantasy doesn't come true. We're running out of time and power to make sure he doesn't make himself a king.

donnah -- he's certainly capable of anything, and has projected his desire to "reign" for another decade or so, Constitution or no. Because it involves not just his narcissistic ego but his fear of being brought to justice after leaving office, it's definitely something to prepare for.

I go both ways on impeachment. Trump obviously believes it would rally his base and push him to election victory, much like the bump Clinton got in the 1998 midterms. One thing I was taught that has proved true was to never given your enemy what he wants. On the other hand if trump's crimes and psychotic behavior doesn't meet the level for a justifiable impeachment and conviction in the senate nothing ever will. I guess it all boils down to whether or not congressional impeachment is worth just having Mitch McConnell and the republican senate ignoring the indictment.

As for trump declaring himself emperor yeah, I can see him attempting to stay in power by whatever means he can engineer. The fear I live with is that I know trump cultists who would support such a move.

BB -- I think it's inevitable that the Dems will start an impeachment inquiry, basically hearings laying out evidence that could/would lead to a bill of impeachment, but that would also have the benefit of bringing the public along in understanding the magnitude of the abnormal behavior. It also happens to be the right thing to do, as it lays down a marker for the future that this behavior is outside acceptable norms for a president. The courts so far seem to be anxious to get Trump's arguments for continuing to obstruct out of the way in as expedited a way as possible. Of course, the Senate won't convict, especially in the lead up to an election. How this all will play out in reality no one can say, but we're going to have a hellish 18 months or more no matter what Dems opt to do.
