Talibangelist con man and peddler of Jeebus junk Jim "Faker" Bakker, of Tammy Faye and Jessica Hawn infamy, sells a lot of miracle crap on his little TV show these days. Capitalizing on his gullible flock's fear of the COVID-19 / coronavirus, he's been pushing a dietary supplement called Silver Solution, and been claiming it's an effective treatment for the virus, despite no evidence that it does. (It may, however, turn you a nice shade of blue.) Bakker's web site sells Silver Solution for a cool $300 for twelve 16 oz. bottles. The Food and Drug Administration has not evaluated Silver Solution, nor cleared it for medicinal purposes.
Thankfully, the alert and effective Attorney General of New York, Letitia James, has sent a letter to Bakker, warning him that he was making misleading statements about Silver Solution with regard to COVID-19. In the letter, Attorney General James said:
“The 2019 novel coronavirus poses serious consequences to public health, and consumers are concerned as to how they can best protect themselves and their families. Your show’s segment may mislead consumers as to the effectiveness of the Silver Solution product in protecting against the current outbreak."Bakker, who was convicted in 1989 on 24 felony counts of fraud and conspiracy for bilking his followers out of millions of dollars, should have learned his lesson by now. With his latest shady venture drawing the attention of law enforcement, it's clear he's incapable of that.
