QOTD -- Get Out Of The Way, Cadet Bone Spurs!

"One month ago, President Trump expressed great confidence in his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. “When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero,” he said, “that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.” Now the United States has more than 100,000 cases, the most in the world, and more than 1,300 deaths — and the pandemic is expanding. The “job” Mr. Trump has done is disastrously inadequate, failing to lead the government or marshal the country to face this crisis.

"Mr. Trump says he feels like a “wartime president.” The most important thing he can do now is to manage the pandemic as if in wartime: put it in the hands of commanders who know how to fight it." -- Washington Post editorial today.  Since the editorial was written, perhaps a day or so ago, the U.S. confirmed cases has jumped to 137,000 confirmed cases and 2,400 deaths.  That's how fast it's spreading, as Cadet Bone Spurs lies, distracts, dithers, flip flops and engages in petty but deadly gamesmanship with the governors and health care providers on the front lines.

Some thoughts:
Trump has had virtually no control over anything to do with the virus and pandemic. He dismantled the Federal response team two years ago and left us unprepared and unprotected. Everything since then, the outbreak has been handled by his team of specialists and FOX news. When he shits out a statement or demand, he has to walk it back, but makes Fauci or some other Penceling do it.

Trump's playbook includes replacing his rallies with his daily briefings, which he could not be arsed to do for three years, only picking them up now so he can command the TV again. He believes he's bigger in the ratings than Sunday Night Football.

He wants to dump all of the responsibility for pandemic management onto the state officials, like governors, so he can blame them if things fail, or claim that his plans worked perfectly if they succeed. His reciprocity clause allows the best ass-kissers only to get their much needed supplies and help.

While Trump and Co are happily playing around and making shit up, Bill Barr is off trying to change the rules for habeas corpus and the Secretary of the Interior just dismantled a Native American's tribe's designation so they can't build the casino they have planned for years. It would compete with Trump casinos in the state.

So all in all, just another week in Trumpland.
