Going to the Time Machine for this rock instrumental. Rock and pop instrumentals used to be a more common genre in the '50s and '60s, with the likes of The Ventures, Duane Eddy and others crafting hits. Buffalo's Rockin' Rebels had their one big hit with 1963's "Wild Weekend," which reflected the almost innocent American zeitgeist at the time.

Though I was a little young in the hey day of these instrumentals, I've always loved the "groove, baby." Personal favorite is Booker T & the MG's "Green Onions." So smooth!
ReplyDeleteRemember the ice skating rink would play this and Dick Dale type of music during the boys only skate. Then they would time us out for zooming around the rink at top speed. What did they expect a boy to do?
