There are new reports that an assassination team of far-right Chechen special forces sent to kill Ukrainian President Zelenskyy was eliminated this weekend by Ukrainian security forces. Russia's criminal thug Vladimir Putin has reportedly put Zelenskyy at the top of a hit list that includes Ukrainian legislators, government officials and others who would oppose a Russian-installed puppet government.
What makes this story unusual is that the Ukrainian security forces received the tip that the Chechens were coming to assassinate Zelenskyy from sources in Russia's own intelligence service, the FSB:
"'We are well aware of the special operation that was to take place directly by the [Chechen] Kadyrovites to eliminate our president. And I can say that we have received information from the FSB, who today do not want to take part in this bloody war,' [Oleksiy] Danilov [secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council] said. 'And thanks to this, the ‘Kadyrov’ elite group was destroyed, which came here to eliminate our president.'"
While it may have been rash to identify the source of the intelligence as the FSB, it illustrates the extent of opposition to Putin's war against Ukraine within the Russian regime's apparatus.
