Another Texas Power Problem

This is what you get when you let right-wing Republican fanatics run your state, like Texas' reactionary Gov. Greg "Abbadabba" Abbott:

"After six power plants went down unexpectedly Friday — and with hot weather expected across Texas this weekend — the Electric Reliability Council of Texas on Friday evening is asking consumers to conserve electricity through Sunday.

Texans are asked to set their thermostats to 78 degrees or above between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. this weekend and to avoid using large appliances at home during those same times."

We don't blame Texas Republicans for the unusually hot weather, only their lack of preparedness, which is stunning after last winter's power grid failure that caused hundreds to die in subfreezing temperatures over a period of days. Texas' power grid failed at a catastrophic scale, while Abbott ordered price gouging by the state's power grid during the crisis which affected low income residents most. He also blamed renewable energy for last year's problem, although Texas' grid runs overwhelmingly on oil and natural gas, which is on point for the deceitful Republican politician that he is.

BONUS:  Abbott could use a distraction from this further evidence of his incompetence, so he punched down at immigrant babies, a surefire way to rile his soon- to- be sweltering, "pro-life" (as long as they're not black or brown lives) base.
