Weekend Music -- R.I.P. Jeff Beck

Guitar legend Jeff Beck, who replaced Eric Clapton in The Yardbirds and went on to form The Jeff Beck Group, died on January 10 at the age of 78.  Beck's innovative guitar work spanned rock, blues, and fusion jazz music, and influenced generations of guitarists.  Typically ranked at the very top of "greatest guitarists," he was in the same league as Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jimi Hendrix.  His fellow musicians reacted to Beck's untimely death after a short battle with bacterial meningitis with outpourings of respect and affection

We're featuring two songs from his discography, but we encourage you to search deeper.  From his early work with The Yardbirds, one of our favorites, "Heart Full Of Soul" (where he developed a guitar sound that emulated a sitar), and from his 1968 album "Truth," the instrumental "Beck's Bolero."  R.I.P.
