January 6 Special Counsel Subpoenas Pence

Late yesterday's announcement that former Vice President and Trump lynch mob target Mike "Fly Guy" Pence has been subpoenaed by Special Counsel Jack Smith signals a new level in the January 6 sedition and electoral interference investigation. According to the WaPo article, the subpoena comes after months of negotiation with Pence, indicating his extreme reluctance to give testimony against his former boss, who desperately tried to use Pence to illegally halt or alter the ceremonial electoral vote count:

"Pence becomes the highest-level person in Trump’s orbit publicly known to be subpoenaed as part of the investigation, and the move is the latest indication that the extensive probe is pushing forward. It could pit two potential presidential candidates against each other; Trump has launched his campaign for the 2024 Republican nomination, and Pence is considered a potential challenger.

It is unclear whether Pence will comply with the subpoena. His advisers had previously said he was not interested in appearing before the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Pence has told people privately that he has concerns about testifying against Trump because of executive privilege, according to the person familiar with the matter."

Pence has direct knowledge of the Malignant Loser's plan to overturn the election, having been aggressively pushed by him to illegally stop the counting of the electoral ballots. His conversations with him the day before the insurrection would confirm the Malignant Loser's role and intent.

It's worth remembering that while Pence ultimately rejected the Malignant Loser's illegal plan, it wasn't for lack of him probing all of the possibilities to overturn the election, only relenting after being advised not to by retired conservative Appeals Court Judge Michael Luttig and former VP Dan Quayle. He's far less of a hero than the Beltway media has made him out to be, and he knows it.

What's driving Pence's reluctance is his fear of not further alienating the Malignant Loser's cult, as the article implies. Pence has also recently spoken against charging the Malignant Loser with any crimes related to the January 6 attempt to overturn the election, saying it would be "terribly divisive", and that he just got bad legal advice. Whether he fights the subpoena will indicate how little he learned from the Malignant Loser's attempt on his life, and on our democratic system.
