Blinken Confronts Russia's Lavrov At G-20

Earlier today, Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a 10-minute exchange with the Russian regime's despicable Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the G-20 meeting in New Delhi.  From the Associated Press:

"A senior U.S. official said Blinken used the discussion to make three points to Lavrov: that the U.S. would support Ukraine in the conflict for as long as it takes to bring the war to an end, that Russia should reverse its decision to suspend participation in the New START nuclear treaty and that Moscow should release detained American Paul Whelan.

The official, who spoke to reporters on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private conversation, said Blinken had 'disabused' Lavrov of any idea they might have that U.S. support for Ukraine is wavering."  (our emphasis)

The Kremlin is clearly watching polls in the U.S., some indicating a fall-off of support for Ukraine among the right-wingers, who would like a government similar to Putin's here in the U.S.  Providing enough of the right kind of weapons as quickly as possible to Ukraine can break the stalemate that Russia wants in order to sap morale and support over time. Meanwhile, Russian drones and rockets will continue to attack the civilian population, as in today's deadly attack on an apartment complex in Zaporizhzhia.
