Weekend Music

In 1966, Manfred Mann had a modest hit in the U.S. with the power pop anthem "Pretty Flamingo" (the recording did much better in the UK and Ireland, where it hit #1).  The song has been covered by such artists as the Everly Brothers, Gene Pitney, and (in concert) Bruce Springsteen.  We especially like this live version performed at Montreux in 1989 by Elvis Costello, with a backup band consisting of Nick Lowe on bass, and Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford on guitars and Gilson Lavis on drums.  "She's out of reach, and out of sight."  Hope you enjoy.
