"Dumbest Man On The Internet" Declares Bankruptcy

 

 

Well, well.  The chickens are coming home to roost in Jim Hoft's empty head:

The founder of the Gateway Pundit, the infamous conspiracy theory site, announced on Wednesday that the company had declared bankruptcy.

Jim Hoft published a message on the website that read, “TGP Communications, the parent company of The Gateway Pundit, recently made the decision to seek protection under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the Southern District of Florida as a result of the progressive liberal lawfare attacks against our media outlet.”

Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss, sued the Gateway Pundit in December of 2021, alleging that Jim and Joe Hoft, twin brothers, behind the conspiracy theory site engaged in “a campaign of lies” that “instigated a deluge of intimidation, harassment, and threats that has forced them to change their phone numbers, delete their online accounts, and fear for their physical safety.”

The Gateway Pundit saw its traffic soar surrounding the 2020 presidential election as it published story after story parroting then-President Donald Trump’s roundly debunked allegations of election fraud that led to the Jan. 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol...

Years ago, we essentially stopped writing about the assorted cranks, crackpots, insurrectionists, and mouth- breathers that occupy the right- wing blogosphere.  Amplifying their bullshit, even in a small way, is an exercise unworthy of anyone cherishing the truth and our democratic system of government.  But in this case, the man rightfully dubbed "the dumbest man on the internet", along with his dim twin Joe, deserves at least a momentary glance -- hopefully in the rear view mirror -- as they're held accountable for just a fraction of their slimy transgressions.

Sunday Night Dose Of Stupid

It's late, we're tired, so we'll let Little Green Footballs tell the sad tale of derp:

The fabled Stupidest Man on the Internet, Jim “Gateway Pundit” Hoft, has performed another glorious face plant for his knuckle-dragging right wing followers today, identifying the suspect in last night’s terrible random shootings in Kalamazoo, Michigan, as a “progressive leftist:” “Progressive” Jason Brian Dalton Arrested for Random Kalamazoo Shootings After Killing 6 - Was Uber Driver - The Gateway Pundit.

If you’ve followed the hopelessly dumb career of Jim Hoft for any time, you’re probably aware that he does this with every shooting incident or mass murder; tries to pin it on a “leftist.” And I do mean every incident, without fail. He’ll Google for voting records that show the perpetrator once registered as a Democrat, or find a Twitter post where they said something not entirely negative about President Obama, etc. etc.

But this one is destined to go down as a classic in the annals of ridiculous Hoftian stupidity.

Police arrested Jason Brian Dalton last night after killing six people in random shootings. Dalton described himself as a “Progressive” leftist on Facebook.

Do you think that will get any headlines?

Well, Jim, I’m pretty sure that won’t be getting any headlines. Because in fact, the guy you’re claiming is a “progressive leftist” actually was once … an employee of Progressive Insurance.  (our emphasis)

We understand Hoft has heard the shooter might have had an accomplice named "Flo."

What.  An.  Idiot.

We've seen the images of angry, vengeful teabaggers from California to Texas who have tried to block buses carrying unaccompanied children from Central America, with some inevitable cases of mistaken identity (see post below).  We'd bet that these teabaggers would be the first to proclaim, loudly and insistently, that they are devoted, Bible-as-literal-truth Christians.  They're just hypocrites, of course, who cherry pick their "principles" when it suits their political/social prejudices.

BONUS:  Here's just one example of how wingnut prejudices and stupidity have sabotaged a humane effort to help some of these children, with special kudos to jackass extraordinaire and Stupidest Man on the Internet Jim Hoft and "guest blogger" Kristinn "But Definitely Not Christian" Taylor.

Pope Francis: Redistribute Economic Benefits

Pope Francis, today in Rome:

[E]quitable economic and social progress can only be attained by joining scientific and technical abilities with an unfailing commitment to solidarity accompanied by a generous and disinterested spirit of gratuitousness at every level. A contribution to this equitable development will also be made both by international activity aimed at the integral human development of all the world’s peoples and by the legitimate redistribution of economic benefits by the State, as well as indispensable cooperation between the private sector and civil society.

In our imagination, the entire Wingnut World -- from Fox "News," to the Catholic League's "Sweaty" Bill Donohue, to the New York Times' Ross "I Seriously" Douthat,  to Weeper of the House John "Mr. Tangerine Man" Boehner -- is sharting mightily today.

UPDATE:  Hate radio's porcine poo flinger Rush Limpballs is wetting his XXXXL Depends:  his response to the Pope's statement is "Marxism and socialism."  Which would put J.C. Himself in the same category as the Pope….
