Trump's Fantasy Land

It's not only past Grandpa Cankles' bedtime, it's past 25th Amendment time:

President Donald Trump asked Americans on Thursday if they remembered a massive television outage two years ago.

That outage didn't happen. As he has before, the president who is fond of telling imaginary tales was explicitly asking people to recall something he had made up.

This time, Trump's fictional story was about wind energy. He has for years railed against it, tried to thwart it and made false claims about it – including a phony anecdote about how, in places where wind power is used, people can't turn on their TVs when the wind isn't blowing.

That isn't true; wind is used as part of a mix of electricity sources, not as the only source, so the grid keeps running and TVs stay on even when there is no breeze. (Also, there are batteries that can store energy from wind turbines for deployment during low-wind periods.) But Trump has often delivered the no-TV story with a comedic touch that has allowed it to skirt fact checks.

In his Thursday remarks at the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, he told it mostly as if it were a real reminiscence.

He denounced "the Green New Scam, where we were scammed." Then he said: "The whole country was – I wasn't scammed. I got it right from the beginning; I got it from the first minute when I heard this crap. You know? They were saying wind was so wonderful, so wonderful, except you couldn't watch your television. They wanted to watch the debate, Donald Trump against Sleepy Joe Biden. Nobody could watch it because the wind wasn't blowing. Remember that? 'Darling, we'd like to watch the debate tonight.' 'I'm sorry, the wind isn't blowing.'"

Uh, no.

Tens of millions of Americans watched his June 2024 debate with then-President Joe Biden – more than 51 million on television alone, according to Nielsen estimates. The viewers, of course, included people in the state that produced by far the most wind-powered electricity in 2024 and still produces by far the most today…Republican-dominated Texas, which is also the most populous state Trump won...

The world's most powerful nation has an increasingly demented, somnolent, dirt-dumb octogenarian wanting to control more and more of our lives, enabled by a fascist movement that threatens to kill our 250-year-old experiment in democracy.  What a bizarre, incredibly stupid  -- and dangerous -- time we're living in.

Trump's Dementia: Giving The Game Away

The Very Stable Genius Malignant Fascist has been bragging about something a psychologist says you don't brag about if your elevator goes all the way to the top floor:

Donald Trump’s boasts about passing cognitive tests suggest he’s being monitored for the progression of dementia, one psychologist says.

Dr. John Gartner told The Daily Beast Podcast that the 79-year-old president’s claim to have “aced” three Montreal Cognitive Assessments could be more than simple routine screenings for the degenerative disease.

“You know, he kind of gave the game away again, as he often does,” Gartner, a former professor at Johns Hopkins, told co-host Joanna Coles about Trump claiming to have passed a test in front of “large numbers of doctors and experts, most of whom I do not know.”

“You could maybe justify giving someone the MoCA once, just on their age, just as part of a physical. If you’re giving it to him three times, that means you’re not assessing dementia. That means you’re monitoring dementia,” Gartner said.

The MoCA is a 30-question assessment given over 10 minutes.

“Because if you keep feeling like, no, he’s still got the symptoms, we’ve got to see how bad he’s doing now, we’ve got to check again, see how bad he’s doing now—I think they’re giving him cognitive tests and MRIs every six months to monitor the progress of his dementia, and/or strokes," Gartner added.

Trump had an MRI in October, just six months after his April physical. The White House has said it was a “preventative” look at his heart and abdomen.  [snip]

One of things the president can’t stop doing, it seems, is bragging about cognitive tests. Trump, the oldest person elected president, has been doing it since his first term. In a 2020 interview with Fox News, he claimed that he impressed doctors so much that he earned “extra points” on a 2018 exam, part of which required him to repeat the words “person woman man camera TV” in the correct sequence... (our emphasis)

As someone said, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows -- nor does it take a psychologist to point out the MF's clear mental (and physical) decline, but it helps.  So, yes, the MF's in "monitoring dementia" mode.  Meanwhile, is someone "monitoring" the nuclear button and making sure it's not connected to anything?

Trump Finally Wins Peace Prize -- No, Not That One

Taking time out from ordering the National Guard and ICE thugs into U.S. cities, threatening Colombia and Venezuela, and carrying out trade wars with friends and foes alike, the megalomaniac Malignant Fascist gets the booby prize named for the second most corrupt President in our history:

He might have missed out on the Nobel Peace Prize, but Donald Trump has been given a consolation gong for his efforts.

Two weeks after being snubbed on the world stage despite months of intense lobbying, the president received the Architect of Peace Award from the Richard Nixon Foundation on Tuesday during a private ceremony at the White House.

The award, named after the controversial Republican at the center of the Watergate scandal, was established in 1995 for people who embody Nixon’s “lifelong goal of shaping a more peaceful world.”

Trump has no doubt he’s a worthy recipient, claiming that he has “ended 8 wars in just 8 months” and describing himself “the president of peace.”

His latest addition to the list is the two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas—although the ceasefire now looks to be on shaky ground.

The other seven he claims to have resolved were between Israel and Iran, Pakistan and India, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Thailand and Cambodia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Serbia and Kosovo.

Talking up his efforts on Tuesday, Trump said he was a better president than George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

“(Someone said) ‘you are the third-best president in the United States’ ... this was on television,” he told Senators as during a lavish lunch in the newly renovated White House Rose Garden.

“So I said who are the first two? ‘George Washington and Abraham Lincoln’. I got very upset with this man... They didn’t put out eight wars. We put out eight wars.”

The Architect of Peace Award was presented to Trump in an Oval Office ceremony that included Richard Nixon’s daughter Tricia Nixon Cox and Trump’s former national security adviser Robert O’Brien...  (our emphasis)

Hoo-boy.  Someone give sundowning President Cankles a big cookie.  As someone put it, he's not the third best President;  he's not even the third worst.

BONUS:  Here's a closer look at the booby prize --

Trump's Brain Damage Climaxes, And More

Steven Colbert covers the Republican Supreme Court's decision on the Malignant Loser's ballot eligibility, the Malignant Loser's reaction to hearing "Russia" and "Putin," the increasing evidence of the Malignant Loser's brain damage (reading a few lines as from a children's book -- chef's kiss), the felon's take on the Georgia trial prosecutors, his brain- damaged supporters, the use of AI to make the Malignant Loser look like a friend to Black Americans, and the Malignant Loser's drug- infested White House.  Good summary of issues the corporate media are trying their best to ignore.
