Rethug Mischief In Wisconsin

True to form, the Wisconsin Rethuglican Party is trying to disrupt the recall elections of a couple of their endangered state senators by running fake Dems to force a Democratic primary. According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, their objective is to slow down the recall process on the Dem side to allow themselves more time to prepare for the recall elections.

In past elections, Rethuglicans have used various tactics to suppress voter turnout, to question voters at the polls, and to generally try to limit the number of voters. That's especially true where Dems have the majority of registered voters or are a significant minority. Here, they've become so unpopular in Wisconsin that they have to use deception to hope to avoid recall. Let's hope that this news convinces Wisconsinites that the Rethugs are unworthy to have the public's trust.

Wisconsin Recalls Move Forward

Recall elections for 6 Wisconsin Rethuglican State senators could be held as early as July 12, following the State accountability board's finding that the recall petitions submitted were sufficient. The board has delayed ruling on recall petitions against three Democratic State senators. The Rethugs were targeted because of their votes on stripping Wisconsin state employees of their collective bargaining rights, rights teachers, police, firefighters and state workers had enjoyed for over 50 years. The 6 represent swing or lean-Democratic districts in Wisconsin and, assuming the recall efforts against the Democrats fail, it would take only 3 of the Rethugs to be recalled to switch control of the State Senate to the Democrats and stop the reactionary tide in Wisconsin dead in its tracks. Recalling the Rethugs in Wisconsin

The recall movement in Wisconsin is showing real momentum. A petition to recall Rethug Sen. Dan "Krap" Kapanke of La Crosse had well over the 15,588 signatures necessary, and will be filed in Madison today. Obama won Krap's district in 2008 with 61% of the vote, so this should be an easy pick. Let's hope. The linked article also notes that the poll numbers for the Rethug Senator with the best name, Randy "Randy" Hopper, are heading tank-ward, now that his constituents are aware of his State job placement efforts on behalf of his mistress, who's half his age.
