As one might expect from a collection of frauds, hypocrites and liars, the Republican platform committee is feverishly tamping down the radical right provisions some in the party wanted included in the 2008 RNC platform. Cynics with an eye toward fooling, er, attracting moderate swing voters to St. John McMaverick succeeded in eliminating proposals that would have called for drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and another that would have denied citizenship to U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants. The flat-earthers still prevailed in getting language removed that linked global warming to carbon emissions (nice work, geniuses!).
