Historic Flooding Hits Arizona & Southwest

We're sending our thoughts to our AZ bureau chief after yesterday's flooding hit the Southwest, and turned creeks, roads and parking lots into rivers and lakes.  The scene in Phoenix was incredible with flooding reaching levels never seen, after a several inches of rain fell as a result of former hurricane Norbert moving into the State.  Interstates 10 and 17 were closed in the morning hours as flood waters submerged parts of the major arteries.  The State's governor has declared a state of emergency.  Hundreds of homes were flooded in the Phoenix metro area.  There were similar scenes of severe flooding in other parts of the state, and in Las Vegas, NV.

Northern Arizona Nevada, Utah and Colorado remain in the path of the record rain today, as the tropical downpours move northeast.
