Republican Police Blotter: Child Rape and Molestation Edition

News concerning members of the "family values" party:
A former Republican candidate for county commission in North Carolina has surrendered to police after being accused of raping a child.
The Independent Tribune reported that former Cabarrus County commissioner candidate Chad Nevada Mockerman, 39, turned himself in to police at around noon on Friday.
Mockerman was charged with statutory rape and taking indecent liberties with a minor.
Wait, there's more:
An anti-immigration Republican candidate was charged last week with molesting an 8-year-old girl. (*)
Michael Hethmon, senior counsel for the Immigration Reform Law Institute, is running a long-shot campaign for Maryland’s House of Delegates.
The 60-year-old is nationally known for his legal work helping to push anti-immigration laws and providing legal advice to anti-immigration lawmakers.
Morons, crackpots, racists, misogynists, gun strokers, homophobes, liars, crooks, sociopaths, hypocrites, theocrats, plutocrats and sexual deviants.  I believe every box has been checked.

That's your Republican Party right there.

(*) UPDATE:  Hethmon was subsequently exonerated.  See comment section for more information.

Hethmon was completely exonerated. A grand jury refused to indict on October 2. Charges were immediately dropped. The accuser Sharon Ruby Gray was revealed to have been convicted of prior false statements to police and was involved in prior incidents of fraud and forgery involving other elder care clients. Gray was a former client of Hethmon's Democratic opponent, Joe Vallario. Gray is now being investigated for child neglect involving a different child for whom she was recently removed as financial guardian. Hethmon has resumed his campaign, see www.hethmon.com.
