Like Jesus turned water into wine, CBS News has miraculously turned boos into cheers! Now that's news you can trust!  Welcome to Trump's America!  Booo!  (That's a cheer!)

Hours later the language of the tweet hasn't been changed by CBS News, even though the announcer clearly noted that there were boos. Rump really must have gotten to those network execs at his shakedown meeting yesterday (CBS President and Rump cheerleader Les Moonves: "How long would you like me to bend over and grab my ankles, sir?").

More Media Malpractice - CBS Gets It Wrong Again

From "journalist" Sharyl Attkisson of CBS:

CBS News has learned that the project manager in charge of building the federal health care website was apparently kept in the dark about serious failures in the website’s security…. The project manager testified to congressional investigators behind closed doors, but CBS News has obtained the first look at a partial transcript of his testimony.

As Steve Benen (among many others) points out:

The CBS report sounds troubling, right? Probably, at least until one picks up the phone to ask Democrats on the committee whether the CBS report is accurate.

I talked to a Democratic staffer this morning about the partial transcript and the aide said Issa’s staff “basically sandbagged this witness with a document he had never seen before and then failed to inform him that it has nothing to do with parts of the website that launched on October 1. In fact, it relates to a function of the website that is not currently active and won’t be until the spring of 2014. Rather than seeking out the truth, this press release tries to scare the public by capitalizing on confusion caused by the Chairman’s own staff.” (our emphasis)

Who was that CBS "journalist" again?  Oh, that Sharyl Attkisson, the one with an affinity for using Rep. Darrell "Grand Theft Auto" Issa's press releases as fact.  The noted anti-vaccination shill. 

It would appear the "journalists" at CBS are less interested in facts than they are about grinding axes and serving as Republican sock puppets.  And here we thought Fox "News" had cornered that market!

(This is but the latest example of how CBS News is bending over backwards to find the dark cloud in every Obama Administration silver lining, even if it has to invent one. We noticed, BTW, last week Katie Couric repeatedly throwing leading questions-cum-statements at Adm. Thad Allen on the now-dominant media narrative that the Administration's "failings" should be confessed and investigated. We wouldn't want to go beyond the superficial, near-term, who's-up-who's-down now, would we Katie?!)

Your "Liberal" Media

CBS News had the bright idea of using former Bushite staffer and veteran plagiarist Ben "Copy Boy" Domenech for their blog site, and guess what happened? Copy Boy used the CBS site to falsely allege that Solicitor General Elena Kagan, a possible Supreme Court nominee, was a lesbian, despite being told that was false. The CBS site initially failed to pull Copy Boy's attempted smear, but did later, saying "after looking at the facts we determined that it was nothing but pure and irresponsible speculation on the blogger's part." Get that? After looking at the facts. Why not try looking at the facts before you publish a lie?

Former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn, who is a fighter and should be the Administration's spokesperson, blasted CBS:

"The fact that they've chosen to become enablers of people posting lies on their site tells us where the journalistic standards of CBS are in 2010." She said the network was giving a platform to a blogger "with a history of plagiarism" who was "applying old stereotypes to single women with successful careers."

The fact that this has passed from a lying Rethug operative to CBS News to the mainstream media in general demonstrates how the right-wing gets smears and falsehoods into wider currency, and demonstrates that the "liberal" media is more often than not a lazy, willing accomplice.
