Trump Shifts Blame For Guardsman's Death, Then Makes Everything About Himself

Reuters has the facts about the gunman who killed one National Guard soldier in Washington, DC, and gravely wounded another on Wednesday, in case you've been hearing a fire hose of lies from the Malignant Fascist and his regime:

The Trump administration on Thursday blamed Biden-era vetting failures for the admission of an Afghan immigrant suspected of shooting two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., but the alleged gunman was granted asylum this year under President Donald Trump, according to a U.S. government file seen by Reuters.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national, entered the U.S. on September 8, 2021, under Operation Allies Welcome. The resettlement program was set up by former Democratic President Joe Biden after the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 that led to the rapid collapse of the Afghan government and the country's takeover by the Taliban.

FBI Director Kash Patel and Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, both Trump appointees, said during a press conference on Thursday that the Biden administration had failed to conduct adequate background checks or vetting on Lakanwal before allowing him to enter the U.S. in 2021.

Neither official provided any evidence to support their assertion.
Patel said Lakanwal, who had worked with U.S. government forces during the U.S. war in Afghanistan, was improperly allowed to enter the U.S. because "the prior administration made the decision to allow thousands of people into this country without doing a single piece of background checking or vetting."

The program, which allowed more than 70,000 Afghan nationals into the U.S., according to a congressional report, was designed with vetting procedures, including by U.S. counter-terrorism and intelligence agencies. But the large-scale and rushed nature of the evacuations led critics to say the background checks were inefficient.

Under the Operation Allies Welcome program, Afghans evacuated to the U.S. were granted a two-year "parole" that allowed them to live and work legally and then apply for a more permanent status.
The document reviewed by Reuters said Lakanwal applied for asylum in December 2024 and was approved on April 23 of this year, three months after Trump took office. Lakanwal, 29, who resided in Washington state, had no known criminal history, the official said.

The government file on Lakanwal said he had been vetted by the U.S. because of his work with U.S. government partners during the war in Afghanistan, and no potentially disqualifying information had been found.  (our emphasis)

West Virginia National Guard soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed by the gunman and fellow Guardsman Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains in grave condition.  They were sent to Washington, DC, on the pretext of bringing "law and order" when, according to the Council on Criminal Justice,
Washington’s numbers shift depending on what time period and what types of crime you examine. But overall, there is an unmistakable and large drop in reported violence in the District since the summer of 2023, when there were peaks in homicide, gun assaults, robbery, and carjacking...
There's no reason these two young patriotic Americans should have been in Washington, DC, except that they were the actors in a play that the Malignant Fascist and his coup-plotting team were staging there and in cities across America. They gave up their lives for someone who had this to say when asked about funeral arrangements (our emphasis):
Q: Do you plan to attend Sarah's funeral?

TRUMP: I haven't thought about it yet, but it's certainly something I can conceive of. I love West Virginia. You know, I won West Virginia by one of the biggest margins of any president anywhere.

What a sick, psychopatic puddle of excrement he is.

Attacks And Boasts, But No Empathy

These analyses of the content of the mini campaign rallies "briefings" malignant narcissist Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump has been holding for weeks (and is starting up again today after saying just days ago he wouldn't be doing them any more -- surprise!) reinforce why they've been so politically damaging to the shitwaffle.

The New York Times:
The self-regard, the credit-taking, the audacious rewriting of recent history to cast himself as the hero of the pandemic rather than the president who was slow to respond: Such have been the defining features of Mr. Trump’s use of the bully pulpit during the coronavirus outbreak. [snip]
By far the most recurring utterances from Mr. Trump in the briefings are self-congratulations, roughly 600 of them, which are often predicated on exaggerations and falsehoods. He does credit others (more than 360 times) for their work, but he also blames others (more than 110 times) for inadequacies in the state and federal response.

Mr. Trump’s attempts to display empathy or appeal to national unity (about 160 instances) amount to only a quarter of the number of times he complimented himself or a top member of his team
(our emphasis)

The Washington Post did a similar analysis:
Over the past three weeks, the tally comes to more than 13 hours of Trump — including two hours spent on attacks and 45 minutes praising himself and his administration, but just 4½ minutes expressing condolences for coronavirus victims. He spent twice as much time promoting an unproven antimalarial drug that was the object of a Food and Drug Administration warning Friday. Trump also said something false or misleading in nearly a quarter of his prepared comments or answers to questions, the analysis shows.  [snip]

Trump has attacked someone in 113 out of 346 questions he has answered — or a third of his responses. He has offered false or misleading information in nearly 25 percent of his remarks. And he has played videos praising himself and his administration’s efforts three times, including one that was widely derided as campaign propaganda produced by White House aides at taxpayer expense.
Both analyses are good reads, though any sentient person having had any exposure to Trump could tell you that it's always all about him.  The pathological lying, the self- aggrandizement, the self- pity, the obsessive need to blame others for his mistakes, the infantile attacks on the media and his political enemies -- it's all part of what makes this ignorant moron the absolute worst nightmare for our country at this catastrophic time.

Quotes Of The Day -- Wartime President Or Lying Narcissist?

From pathological liar  and narcissist Donald "Moron Vector" Trump at his press briefing ersatz campaign rally yesterday:

1) Lying in response to a reporter's question about disbanding the pandemic response team in the White House:

We didn’t do that. That turned out to be a false story.”  (Of course, it's a true story.)

2) Unable to control his impulse to have everything be about him, no matter how frivolous:

Did you know I was No. 1 on Facebook? I just found out.”  (Of course, even if that was relevant in a briefing about the deadly coronavirus outbreak, it's not remotely true and was debunked months agoMr. Bean (!) has way more followers, as does President Obama;  the Moron Vector doesn't even make the top 30 worldwide.)

Sic transit gloria, America!

Trump Caught Lying About His China Trade Deal; "Completely Fabricated"

The smart money boys aren't buying what simpleton con man Donald "Rump" Trump is selling on his yuuuge China tariff pause:

Here's the JP Morgan note excerpt:

President Trump’s top economic advisors pushed back Monday on his claim that China has agreed to eliminate tariffs on U.S. auto imports, saying no such agreement had been struck.
The unusual dispute was the latest to suggest that Trump’s handshake agreement on trade during a working dinner Saturday night in Argentina with Chinese President Xi Jinping remains open to divergent interpretation, even in the White House.
"Q. How can you tell he's lying?  A. His lips are moving."  Never more true than with this p.o.s.

BONUS:  Now even Big Brain Trump is walking back some of the puffery.

BONUS II: The stock market isn't buying Rump's b.s. apparently; the market plunged more than 700 points this morning, uncertain about what was actually agreed to with China.

Firehose Fatigue, Cont.

Some recent items out of the daily blast of WTF from the Trump regime firehose, presented with minimal comment:

American Lyin'
President Trump boasted in a fundraising speech Wednesday that he made up information in a meeting with the leader of a top U.S. ally, saying he insisted to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the United States runs a trade deficit with its neighbor to the north without knowing whether that was the case. [snip]
The Office of the United States Trade Representative says the United States has a trade surplus with Canada.
Very Stable Genius, cleanup on aisle PA-18:
While in St. Louis, he [Trump] told donors, "The young man last night that ran, he said 'oh, I'm like Trump. Second amendment, everything. I love the tax cuts, everything.'"
"He ran on that basis," Trump further claimed. "I said is he a Republican? He sounds like a Republican to me."  [snip]

He Only Plays An Economist On TV
It was the eve of the biggest economic collapse since the Great Depression. Many on Wall Street worried that a recession loomed and that the housing bubble was bursting.
And then there was Larry Kudlow, the man President Trump just tapped to be his top economic adviser. [snip]
“There’s no recession coming. The pessimistas were wrong. It’s not going to happen,” wrote Kudlow. “ . . . The Bush boom is alive and well. It’s finishing up its sixth consecutive year with more to come. Yes, it’s still the greatest story never told.”
If that was the greatest story, this should be a close runner-up: Trump has just put the country’s economic fate in the hands of the man who has arguably been more publicly and consistently wrong about the economy than any person alive.
Donald Trump Jr. and his wife Vanessa will be getting divorced, reports Page Six.
Run, Vanessa, run fast and far and don't look back!

Liar Of The Year?

Narcissist and pathological liar Donald "Rump" Trump needs attention and affection to fill the void inside his empty being. He'll do anything to get attention and acclaim: lie, cheat, manipulate. Despite his anger at the news media, he craves its attention. That's why he tweeted a ridiculously dishonest statement that Time Magazine had approached him to be on its cover as "Man of the Year," but that he turned them down. Alan Murray, Time Magazine's content editor, responded:

Rump's mental illness is clear and disturbing. With reality pressing in on him on all sides with the Russiagate investigation, he creates his own delusional world in full view of us all.
