Advertisers Flee Right-Wing Hate Radio

The Limpballs Effect (i.e., shedding advertisers like a snake sheds its skin) seems to be spreading to all of Limpballs' frothing imitators in far-right hate radio:

"Premiere Networks, which distributes Limbaugh as well as a host of other right-wing talkers, sent an email out to its affiliates early Friday listing 98 large corporations that have requested their ads appear only on 'programs free of content that you know are deemed to be offensive or controversial (for example, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Tom Leykis, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity).'”

And by "large corporations" we mean Ford, Geico, McDonald's, GM, etc. This is not to say Limpballs and the other sociopathic buffoons won't continue to be aired (there's always the Koch brothers' industries* and others of that ilk to underwrite the frothers). But it shows that responsible companies are no longer going to be associated with the hateful, divisive, misogynist sewage that comes out of these programs.

* FYI, Koch Industries is a huge conglomerate which includes such avoidable consumer brands as (via its ownership of Georgia-Pacific Co.) Brawny paper towels, Dixie Cups, Vanity Fair napkins, and Quilted Northern and Angel Soft bathroom tissue; also, Stainmaster carpets. Just sayin'.

Weiner Savage Banned in Britain

Right-wing hate radio crackpot Michael Weiner (aka Michael Savage) has been banned for travel to Britain. (Pause here to snicker) The savage Weiner was put on Britain's "name and shame list" which will keep him out of Britain indefinitely. Others on the list announced recently by the British Home Secretary: a neo-Nazi, an Arab extremist, skinhead and KKK leaders, and a homophobe "pastor." The savage Weiner is in good (that is, bad) company.

"There is no free market in talk radio today, only an exclusive, tightly held, conservative media conspiracy. The few holders of broadcast licenses have made it clear they will not, on their own, serve the general public. Maybe it's time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine--and bring competition back to talk radio in Washington and elsewhere." - Progressive talk radio host Bill Press in a letter in today's WaPo. Press points out that progressive radio hosts are outnumbered 15 to 1 on the local right-wing blowhard outlet WTNT-AM(not a dynamite station). Press has a personal reason to complain, too. Redskin and Red Zebra Broadcasting Co. owner Li'l Danny Snyder has pulled the plug on the only progressive format in deep blue DC - 1260 AM - which employed Press and several other progressives in the talk radio wilderness.

A Savage Weiner

Hate radio uber-wingnut Michael (real name: Weiner) Savage thinks autism is "a fraud, a racket". He made his comments on his hate radio show on July 16. The Weiner's advice to parents with children who have this fraudulent condition? To paraphrase: if they act like fools, tell them they're fools like my daddy told me when I acted foolish.

Daddy Weiner, where are you? You need to tell "little Weiner" he's a fool. And while you're at it, tell the people who syndicate his brand of toxic talk that they're even bigger fools for keeping this rancid Weiner on the air.

A-boortz-ion

It would be hard to find someone on the far right as despicable as radio host Neal "This Can't Be Real" Boortz. In a recent broadcast, this bottom-feeder said the disastrous response to Hurricane Katrina was not the fault of Dumbya, and called the victims of Katrina "worthless parasites" who wouldn't get out of the way of the hurricane. "It was just a glorified episode of putting out the garbage." Actually, the only garbage was coming out of Boortz's large mouth.

This is the kind of hate speech on right wing radio that passes for commentary today. The similarities between it and the broadcasts coming out of Nazi Germany in the '30s and '40s are significant and real.
