"It Is What It Is"
Checking out some of the major networks' coverage of white supremacist and pathological liar Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump being helicoptered to Walter Reed yesterday, we noticed several "journalists" using phrases like "our President" and "the leader of the free world," interspersed with continual, rote wishes for his "full and complete recovery." The treacly, mawkish deference to him was pathetic. It's almost as though they were fed dialogue by White (Supremacist) House spokesliar Kaylee McInerney to deflect from the fact that COVID Donnie's cynical and self-serving mismanagement of the pandemic had come back to bite him and many in his cult.
Some members of our broken media can't resist amplifying the "drama" of a story, especially when there's a "twist." Just three days ago, COVID Donnie was refusing to denounce white supremacy, now he's "our President." After four years of embracing our adversaries and undermining our allies and our democratic institutions to the benefit of thugs like Putin and the Saudis, he's "the leader of the free world." He's the arsonist that got his hands burned, not the firefighter.
Our broken Beltway media should model their coverage of COVID Donnie after his own comment about American deaths caused by the pandemic he failed to control: "it is what it is."

The sanctimonious media should spare some empathy for all the innocent bystanders who are going to get exposed to this TrumpWorld Covid cluster through no fault of their own, or who already have been. They are the real victims here and we're not hearing about them at all.

Last night, Jimmy Kimmel gave his wrap-up of the news on demagogue and con man Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump's diagnosis of COVID-19. On COVID Donnie: “He’s high-risk because of his age and his weight. Fortunately, he does have Obamacare, so he’s covered with those pre-existing conditions.” On the scene in the White (Supremacist) House: "Basically, right now the White House is like a summer camp with lice."
Falling Ill Fallout (UPDATED)
The politically damaging fallout continues from the outbreak of COVID-19 that's sent Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. It begins with this piece of a continuing trend:
It appears that the first time the White House was the first to confirm a positive coronavirus test in the administration was Trump’s tweet about his own positive test early Friday morning.
The diagnosis immediately destabilized a broad range of institutions and efforts. Stock futures dropped by hundreds of points. Questions immediately arose about possible succession plans or preparations. Trump's ongoing reelection campaign lost its candidate for some to-be-determined period — and lost any hope of redirecting the race away from the ongoing pandemic.
That instability will only be heightened by the long track record of obscuring or misrepresenting health information related to the president.
Needless to say, a pathological liar and his pathologically lying regime will continue not to be trusted to provide accurate and timely information about the virus, either as it's affecting COVID Donnie (man, that nickname hits now) or the nation for that matter.
Then, there's this succinct analysis about the political impact:
“He’s f**ked, we’re f**ked,” said one White House aide who is not authorised to speak publicly. “No matter what we do, the next two weeks or more will be about him not being able to protect himself or us from Covid.”
When informed of the Biden campaign’s announcement that the former VP and his wife, Dr Jill Biden, had both tested negative, the aide replied: “Double f**ked.”
Michael Starr Hopkins, a Democratic strategist, also opined that Trump’s positive diagnosis spells the end of his campaign’s attempt to get Americans to focus on anything other than the pandemic.
The person who said recently that the virus "affects virtually nobody" now has the virus.
The re- focus on the pandemic, specifically how COVID Donnie was unable to protect the country or himself through science- based, reasonable actions, means at least two weeks of devastating messaging:
With Mr. Biden already leading in the polls, and Mr. Trump’s electoral prospects dependent on his ability to campaign, the president has little time to change the trajectory of the race. The fate of his re-election bid increasingly seemed to hinge on his own health — and whether he will able to overcome the disease and persuade voters to give him another four years.
The split-screen between the candidates on Friday represented a striking reversal from the last few months, during which Mr. Trump pushed on with his rallies and belittled Mr. Biden for adhering to health protocols and running a “basement campaign.” [snip]
The president’s illness is certain to keep the coronavirus pandemic front and center in the remaining weeks before the election, a development that would appear to favor Mr. Biden, whose campaign message is focused on criticism of Mr. Trump’s stewardship of the deadly disease.
In the White House, advisers to the president acknowledged that the positive test would remind voters of how dismissive Mr. Trump had been about the virus, not only with the neglect of his own safety but also in his overly rosy assessments about a pandemic that has killed more than 208,000 Americans. Mr. Trump’s recklessness, one adviser acknowledged, amounted to a political “disaster.”
Increasingly, it appears that the Rose Garden announcement meant to showcase the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to a hijacked seat on the Supreme Court was a superspreader event. Here are some of those in attendance testing positive so far:
o Trump and "Melanie";
o Campaign manager Bill Stepien;
o Kellyanne Conway;
o Sen. Mike Lee (Utah);
o Sen. Thom Tillis (NC);
o RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel;
o Notre Dame president Father John Jenkins;
o at least three members of the White House press corps.
Masks were not required at the indoor Coney Barrett events at the White (Supremacist) House that day, either. With the exception of the press corps members, all of the above chose to follow their Dear Leader's reckless example.
Something about sowing the wind, and reaping the whirlwind might apply here, no?

The Bidens Test Negative For COVID Amid Trump's Recklessness

Meanwhile, more details have emerged about the spread of the Trump Virus in the White (Supemacist) House:
"It wasn’t immediately clear how Trump contracted the virus. Hicks tested positive after flying aboard Air Force One to the presidential debate in Cleveland on Tuesday and to a campaign rally in Minnesota on Wednesday.
Senior aides on Thursday discussed scenarios for how to handle both governing and campaigning if Trump tested positive, according to people familiar with the situation. Other White House aides learned the news of Trump’s illness when they awoke Friday morning.
Only a very small circle of people knew that Hicks had tested positive, and senior staff had hoped to keep that information private, two of the people said." (our emphasis)
In simple terms, just as Trump "downplayed" the virus and misled America, they misled people that came in contact with Hope "Hopeless" Hicks, therefore allowing the virus to spread well beyond that "very small circle." They were malicious enough not to inform the Biden campaign of their virus exposure. Also, the wealthy Trumper donors that congregated at his Bedminster flea trap on Thursday will be checking with their doctors to get a COVID test, too. They just found out this morning along with the rest of us that their Dear Leader may have exposed them. Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you exposure to COVID.
The lesson, in addition to what medical experts have been saying all along that masks and social distancing help reduce the spread of COVID-19, is not to trust a word that comes out of the White (Supremacist) House in the run up to the election, including Trump's actual health status. His whole game has been to pretend the pandemic is in the past or affects "virtually nobody", so now they have to "downplay" status of his condition to con his cult once again.

BREAKING: Trump Contracts Trump Virus
It had to happen sooner or later: virus spreader and demagogue Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump and his third wife Melanie Melania have tested positive for the coronavirus. Shortly before 1 a.m this morning, Trump put down his double cheeseburger and tweeted:
Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!

After all of that "playing down" of the virus, pushing quack cures, taunting mask wearing, recklessly holding his Nuremberg rallies with no social distancing or masks, and who knows what else, the biggest purveyor of false information on the virus has now gotten a dose of it.
Aside from the schadenfreude of it all, Trump will have to quarantine at the White (Supremacist) House for the next 14 days, assuming the virus doesn't put him in the hospital on a ventilator. Trump communication lie factory aide and object of Trump's lust Hope "No Hope" Hicks also tested positive on Wednesday evening. Hicks had traveled with the Trump entourage to the Tuesday shit show in Cleveland, which indicates that they knew the infection had reached Trump's inner circle Wednesday evening, yet still appeared at a Nuremberg / Herman Cain Memorial rally in Duluth, MN that night.
The White (Supremacist) House indicated that Trump will conduct some campaigning from the residence, again assuming the virus doesn't consume him, thus reversing roles with VP Joe Biden, who is out on the campaign trail holding safe events.

Congress Gives Trump Post-Election Gift
A stop gap Continuing Resolution to fund the Federal Government passed and was signed yesterday, allowing the Government to stay open until December 11, three days before the Electoral College meets certify the election. This after the reckless "Moscow Mitch" McConnell-led Republican Senate has failed to act on 12 appropriations bills that fund the non-Defense, domestic share of the Federal Government.
In pushing a deadline to December 11, Congress (looking at you, too, Dems, who passed their bill with the December 11 date) is giving demagogue and banana republic sociopath Donald "Mango Mussolini" Trump a potential weapon to use in the likely event that he loses the election. It gives a defeated and lawless Trump looking for revenge on America something to use in his struggle to cling to power. Yes, the lame ducks could override Trump's veto of a new CR, but how many defeated, bitter Republican Senators will be inclined to do that as one of their last official acts? After all, the CR funds domestic programs which the Republicans have long tried to gut or eliminate.
After their anticipated wipe out in November, what better holiday gift for them to give a President-elect Biden and a Dem Congress than a shut down Government? Don't put it past them or their cult leader. And, unfortunately, House Dems acceded to giving them that potential cudgel.

So, as COVID Donnie played presidential dealmaker, the far more capable Kim was taking him for a ride. And what, again, was the upshot?
“There have been a lot of efforts, but in substance, I see no progress at all,” said Chun Yung-woo, a former South Korea national security adviser who participated in nuclear talks with North Korea in the mid-2000s.
“North Korea is more dangerous. It has more nuclear warheads, or fissile materials with which to produce nuclear weapons,” Chun said. “In that regard, at least, North Korea has more capability to destroy peace on the Korean Peninsula. I wouldn’t describe that as any progress.”
We wouldn't either. We would describe it as getting suckered, though.
