Republican Values, Home Front Edition, Cont'd.

The sexytime saga of evangelical role models Becki and Jerry Falwell, Jr. continues. A lengthy, receipts-laden report from Politico details a new allegation that Becki stalked and engaged in oral sex with one of her son's friends at Liberty "Or Death" University in 2008. Here's a sampling:
"A former Liberty University student says Becki Falwell, the wife of the university’s then-President Jerry Falwell Jr., jumped into bed with him and performed oral sex on him while he stayed over at the Falwell home after a band practice with her eldest son in 2008.

The student was 22 at the time of the encounter, near the start of Liberty’s fall semester. He said she initiated the act, and he went along with it. But despite his rejection of further advances, he said, Falwell continued pursuing him, offering him gifts and engaging in banter through Facebook messages.

'She was the aggressor,' he said.
 [snip]

Another member of the former student’s band, who spoke to POLITICO on the condition of anonymity, said the student told him of the oral-sex encounter with Becki Falwell within a month of it occurring.  (our emphasis)
No indication that kinky husband Jerry was hiding in the closet watching the scene. Apparently Becki was making herself a groupie around the band:
"Members of the band recall Becki Falwell’s habit of showing up to their rehearsals. At first, the guys didn’t think much of it — she was friendly and hospitable, and always offered them food and snacks. [snip]
Pretty soon, his bandmates thought they might have an answer.

'I could tell she was giving me looks, but [I] wanted to downplay it,' the former student said. 'I would think, Am I reading too much into this? She would speak almost … she’d always give little innuendos. Almost like she was speaking in code.'” (our emphasis)
"Speaking in code" and not in tongues, Becki? Sinful!

Weekend Music Twofer

Los Angeles- based Korean-American indie folk-rock trio Run River North (RRN) has two new appealing singles out, "Pretty Lies" and the just- dropped "Cemetery."  The first video was taped in Los Angeles, and the second was taped in Daegu, South Korea (the green landscape) and the San Fernando Valley (the brown landscape).  Band members are Alex Hwang – lead vocals, guitar; Daniel Chae – guitars, vocals, violin, percussion; and Sally Kang – keyboards, vocals, bass.  Hope you enjoy.

Biden Camp Acquires Domain For Trump Slogan

The "Death Star" that was supposed to be demagogue and serial liar Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump's campaign juggernaut may be feeling Death-trolled today after learning that the Biden campaign has acquired the "KeepAmericaGreat.com" domain name right out from under them. Better still, the Biden campaign is using the site to publicize Trump's broken promises and failures, so when MAGA morons click and expect to see praise of their Dear Leader, they get this.

Trump had rolled out the now-ironic slogan for his reelection campaign last year, only to be overtaken by his botched COVID-19 response, the collapse of the economy to Depression-era levels, and the civil disturbances in response to police brutality and systemic racism. Not so "great," we'd say.

Republican National Circus -- It's A Crap, Er, Wrap

Once again, Stephen Colbert, like us, didn't watch the final night of the Republican National Convention Circus.  But that didn't stop him from a perfect summation of the night and of the entire four day shitshow.  Some 1,000 MAGA morons packed the south lawn of the White (Supremacist) House not observing social distancing or wearing masks in this latest COVID-19 super spreader event (sadly, Herman Cain couldn't attend because, well, you know). As Colbert said, "I know the Republicans like voter suppression, I didn't know they kicked it up to voter extinction."  Better them than us. (Bonus: wait for the very end when guest Chris "Krispycreme" Christie shows up briefly on the screen looking more and more like a Smithfield ham):

For those interested, CNN's Trump lie detector Daniel Dale points out a few droplets from the 70- minute droning fire hose of lies, starting off with the factual observation that COVID Donnie "is a serial liar":

Biden-Harris Ad Running On Trump's Big Night

The Biden-Harris campaign is going to run this ad on all the networks tonight during coverage of malignant menace Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump's acceptance speech.  A 2- minute dose of reality counter- programming:

It's A Wonderful Letter

Letter in today's New York Times:
To the Editor:

In her speech at the G.O.P. convention Monday night, Natalie Harp, a cancer survivor, made reference to the film “It’s a Wonderful Life,” comparing Donald Trump to George Bailey, the main character in the film, played by my father, Jimmy Stewart.

Given that this beloved American classic is about decency, compassion, sacrifice and a fight against corruption, our family considers Ms. Harp’s analogy to be the height of hypocrisy and dishonesty.

Kelly Stewart Harcourt
Davis, Calif.
We believe the late Jimmy Stewart -- a WWII veteran, Air Force General and lifelong Republican -- would be proud of his daughter.

Like Putin, Like Trump

Narcissistic con man and sociopath Donald "Tovarich" Trump's obsequious admiration for villainous Russian thug and poisoner Vladimir Putin shows up in not-so-subtle ways, like imitation:

You know if Trump had his way in a second term, he'd eliminate the free press and imprison -- or worse -- his political opponents.

Hat tip to Christopher Bouzy for the obvious comparison.

Trump's Pupil

The teenage vigilante killer arrested for the murder of two protesters and the wounding of a third in Kenosha, Kyle Rittenhouse, was a violent cop wannabe whose goal in life was to hide behind a badge in order to maim and murder people he hated. Following his arrest on first degree murder charges, some journalists have been looking into the young psychopath's social media accounts,  and BuzzFeed News came up with this gem. It's a screen grab of Rittenhouse in the front row of a Trump rally in Des Moines, IA on January 30.

(Rittenhouse is circled; click to enlarge)

Rittenhouse and the others in the large crowd were absorbing Trump's  rants about "radical Socialist Democrats," "Pocahontas," "fake news," and working with China on the coronavirus (his "friends" then).

Trump has been the instigator of violence dozens of times before. While this rally was months before the killing of George Floyd and the surge in police violence and the Black Lives Matter protests it engendered, it's an example of the people drawn to the reckless, white supremacist demagogue in the Oval Office who's addicted to power and authoritarianism, who has followers ready to grab their guns.

Mike. Pence. The. Huge. Hypocrite.

Last night was pathetic hypocrite and Trump towel boy Mike "Dense" Pence's turn in the spotlight at the Republican National Circus, delivering a Hatch Act-violating political speech on Federal property at Ft. McHenry. It was more of the gaslighting, shameless lying and flattery of demagogue Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump that we're used to hearing from Pence in his familiar punctuated. stop. and. go. speech. pattern, which is meant to be dramatic but comes off as canned, like Pence himself.  The Lincoln Project's new ad shreds Pence for his hypocritical loyalty to a serial adulterer and sexual predator, given his relentless, fake piety over the years.

Republican National Circus -- Day 3

Spoiler alertStephen Colbert didn't watch the Republican National Convention Circus last night (nor did we).  Or as he put it, "Why should we pay attention to what they're saying if none of what they're saying tonight is about what's happening in America right now?"  So this isn't a summation of the shitfest, but rather a righteous look at the larger shitfest that malignant moron Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump has created:

If you didn't watch but would like a fact check (albeit only a few drops from the fire hose of falsehoods), here's CNN with Trump lie detector Daniel Dale, followed by a panel discussion:

QOTD -- Revisionism

At the Republican National Convention on Monday, Trump was hailed as a bold and lifesaving leader who “was right” on the novel coronavirus while Democrats, doctors and pundits were wrong from the beginning. One campaign-style video that aired during the convention hailed Trump as the “one leader” who stood up to the virus while quoting Democratic figures who played down the severity of the virus in its early stages.

It’s a revisionist version of recent history belied by hours of videotape in which the president minimized the threat of the virus for months, falsely predicted that it would “disappear” with warmer weather, promoted several unproven miracle cures, pushed states to reopen before meeting federal government benchmarks, equivocated on mask-wearing, defied social distancing guidelines and repeatedly told Americans that everything was under control. -- Toluse Olorunnipa, on the front page of the Washington Post today (for the most part, the Post, unlike other media, is doing a decent job of accurately reporting the lies and depredations of the Trump regime).

A slew of new Biden-Harris ads are out.  The campaign is spending $9 million in broadcast advertising alone to counter- message the RNC shitshow.
