Running Out Of Time

With the election 7 days away, and early voting going strongly in favor of Obama, the McSleazy campaign is banking on "blue" state Pennsylvania's 21 electoral votes to counter the Obama tide in such formerly "red" states as Virginia (Obama ahead by 8) and Colorado (Obama ahead by 5). But it's not working.

McSleazy's desperate campaign is throwing mud (labeling Obama as "socialist" or "Marxist"), knowing that their message on the economy, tax cuts for the wealthy, taxing health care benefits, cutting Medicare, etc., won't sell to the American people because it's a continuation of Dumbya's classic Rethug philosophy: every man and woman for themselves.

Colorado "Gone" For McAngry

CNN is reporting that senior advisors to McAngry are effectively conceding Colorado to Sen. Obama. "Gone" was the quote of one advisor to describe McAngry's chances of winning the state. McAngry pulled out of Michigan some weeks ago, conceding that state's electoral votes to Obama. What happened to his "never surrender" mantra?

The report also says that Iowa and New Mexico are also becoming unwinnable for McAngry. Maybe next, Virginia and Florida. Tsk tsk. And after McAngry's run such a dignified, positive, and honest campaign.

McNasty's Losing Strategy

Since the last debate, John McNasty's campaign has resembled an angry lynch mob rather than a Presidential campaign. As we've noted previously, the winguts have been shouting "kill him" and "traitor" and "off with his head" when Sen. Obama's name is mentioned at McNasty and You Betcha campaign "rallies". Their innuendoes that Obama's "not one of us" and that he's "hiding something" threw gasoline on the fire that hate radio and the wingnutosphere started. Now they've been burned by the public's distaste for the hate spewing from the "rallies." It was getting so you'd have to cover the kids' ears when video clips of their "rallies" would appear on TV.

It's a losing strategy, according to a new Washington Post/ABC News poll, which has McNasty losing to Obama among likely voters, 53 to 43 percent. In addition, McNasty's favorability ratings are also heading for the dumpster, with 45% saying that they have an unfavorable impression of him, vs 33% for Obama. Also, 59% feel that McNasty has mainly been attacking his opponent rather that addressing the issues, while only 26% feel that way about Obama.

Pushing Back

The Obama campaign released a new ad that punctures the "maverick" image the McBush campaign has tried to create. And for the first time, an Obama ad uses the "L" word - - lie - - to describe their claims. Most in the mainstream media won't call lies what they are, preferring to say that McBush & Co. are "stretching the truth" or "exaggerating." However, the conservative Wall Street Journal is the latest to call out the McBush campaign for the whopper about Gov. Who?'s "opposition" to the Bridge to Nowhere. And there are more distortions and lies about the records of McBush and Who? to be exposed and debunked. It just needs an independent press that isn't afraid to put down McBush's barbeque ribs, stop putting facts and lies on an equal footing, and do their jobs.

McSame's Election Game

Rethuglican nominee-to-be Sen. John "I'm Not Bush" McSame's purported election strategy is analyzed in Time's on-line edition. One of the elements will be to claim the high road while staying on the low road, i.e., calling for a "respectful campaign" while having surrogates fling poo at the Democratic candidate. We all know Jeremiah "Wrong" Wright will be pushed front and center by the Rethugs, but McSame has his own crazy minister problems with John "Catholic Church Is a Whore" Hagee among the most famous. His associates also include a number of unsavory lobbyists (Burma's generals anyone?) that tarnish his claim to being anti-Washington business-as-usual.

Luckily for him, McSame can count on the barbeque-loving media (his self-described "base") to give him passes and to provide loving accounts of what a maverick he is, despite voting with the Bush Assministration 95% of the time.
