It's Friday, so it must be time for Rethuglican Party Chairclown Michael "Tin Man" Steele to say something demonstrably false and idiotic. Ah, yes, here it is:
"The CBO: their estimates were for Rethugs before they were against us." Thank you Tin Man for being, well, you.

Morning Blow

We happened to catch a few minutes of MSNBC's lamest program, "Morning Joe," and saw Rethuglican National Committee chairclown Tin Man Steele holding forth on the Senate's health insurance reform compromise. (Notice how Mika The Sweater fawns over Tin Man; did they teach that in journalism class?) To paraphrase Tin Man, the Dems are moving toooooo fast (President Truman pushed universal health insurance over 60 years ago). Moreover, Tin Man took righteous umbrage at Senate Majority Leader Reid's statement that at times when significant change is needed (abolition of slavery, womens' suffrage, civil rights, etc.), there are always those who want to slow things down.
When panelist Donnie Deutch finally asked Tin Man exactly what was inaccurate about Reid's statement, Tin Man got all "oh no you dint" on Deutch and refused to answer the question. Of course he can't, because it's absolutely true, and Rethugs/conservatives have almost always found themselves on the wrong side in these past struggles. With health insurance reform, their obstuctionism is plain for all to see (New Hampshire Rethug Sen. Judd "Jug Head" Gregg even wrote a memo to his colleagues on procedures, amendments and other stalling tactics to use in the debate).

"I'm The Cow On The Tracks"

That's the way RNC Chairclown Michael "Tin Man" Steele described himself as opposing the Obama Administration's health insurance reform "train." More like a deer in the headlights, Tin Man. As many have noted, a cow on the tracks isn't much of a match for a train, and neither is Tin Man much of a match for the "train" rolling down the tracks about to make hamburger out of him.
Tin Man was recently lectured in a closed-door meeting of Rethug political leaders that he was not to make policy, and to focus on fundraising and organizing for 2010. Rethug big wigs cringe at his many gaffes and misstatements. But Tin Man, thankfully for the amusement of his many detractors, can't resist the TV cameras, and seems to have a death wish (expressed today in the form of a train bearing down on his sorry ass).

More, Tin Man, More!
As noted below, Rethug National Committee Chairclown Tin Man Steele can't keep away from the microphones, and apparently thinks he's the equal of President Obama. Mfff mff. . . (Not quite, but let's not puncture Tin Man's fantasy, let us encourage his delusions of grandeur). Like, for example, today, when he blasted the American Medical Association for backing health insurance reform in an event at the White House Rose Garden: "The AMA. . .does not have credibility on this healthcare issue. . .", Tin Man declared rather presumptuously.
Yes, the organization representing the nation's physicians doesn't have credibility on health care issues, according to Tin Man, a purely political hack who owes his job to Rethug contributors trying to deny Americans (and President Obama) the health insurance reform that would take obscene profits from the major health insurance companies and apply it to actual health care. Well played, Tin Man! May you continue to play the fool as the representative of your pathetic party.

Tin Man's Shameful Behavior

Having followed Rethug National Committee chair Michael "Tin Man" Steele's political career for a few years, we're not surprised at his soulless, cynical opportunism -- after all, when running for the Senate in Maryland in 2006, he deceitfully tried to palm himself off as a Democrat to gullible voters. When Tin Man appeared at mostly black Howard University, he had to bus in a couple of dozen young white Rethugs to clap when he waved his arms during his "dialogue" on health care. When a young student told her story of her mother's losing battle with cancer, Tin Man mocked her and suggested she just wanted to appear on TV.
Of course, Tin Man's routine consists of telling audiences that everyone should have health care, but strangely never gets around to telling people what the Rethugs' proposals are that would curb costs and cover everyone. That's because the health insurance giants, in whose pockets Tin Man resides, don't want anything approaching reform, and will pay Tin Man's party handsomely to keep it that way.
