Fox "News" Republican host/ spokesmodel Kimberly Guilfoyle would like young Democrat  ladies to please stay away from the polls this November.  Why?  Let Guilfoyle's searing logic burn a hole in your brain (to match hers):

It’s the same reason why young women on juries are not a good idea. They don’t get it! They’re not in that same, like, life experience of paying the bills, doing the mortgage, kids, community, crime, education, health care! They’re like healthy and hot and running around without a care in the world … They can go back on Tinder or Match.com.

Guilfoyle's admonition does not apply, of course, to any of the young Republican Duggar or Palin wimmen, who clearly "get it!"

Oh, by the way, Kimberly, don't forget to vote on Election Day, November 11!  Got it?

Benghazi Attack Ringleader Apprehended; Fox "News" Has Another Conspiracy For You

From the once great Washington Post Bezos Bugle:

U.S. Special Operations forces captured one of the suspected ringleaders of the terrorist attacks in Benghazi in a secret raid in Libya over the weekend, the first time one of the accused perpetrators of the 2012 assaults has been apprehended, according to U.S. officials. 

The officials said Ahmed Abu Khattala was captured Sunday near Benghazi by American troops, working alongside the FBI, following months of planning, and was now in U.S. custody “in a secure location outside Libya.” The officials said there were no casualties in the operation and that all U.S. personnel involved have safely left Libya.

Countdown until the right-wing noise machine finds some way to undercut this good news... in 5...4...3...2...1 --  take it away, Fox "News"!

No Wonder Right Wingers Didn't Like Obama's "Between Two Ferns" Appearance

"Making a mockery," "tragic," "inappropriate."  Waaaah!  Concern trolling and faux outrage on the right are what you've come to expect any time President Obama takes an action (or doesn't, for that matter). Fortunately, Stephen Colbert covers the right's latest blatherfest  =cough= Fox News= cough= about President Obama's recent appearance to promote Obamacare on Zach Galifianakis's "Between Two Ferns:"

As Colbert points out, the appearance had the desired effect of stimulating interest in Obamacare (the Affordable Care Act) in the "Between Two Ferns" demographic  - traffic to the health care web site, up 40%.   Cue wingnut heads exploding.  Cue us smiling.

You might call this the "get out of your crouch, progressives!" morning reading:

-- Frank Rich has a long, provocative piece on why liberals should see Fox "News" as roadkill, and that, "Rather than waste time bemoaning Fox's bogus journalism, liberals should encourage it."  We must admit, noting the constant crazy coming from Fox is like catnip to us.  But rather than reacting to every Fox dropping, Rich makes the point that we should be focused on promoting bread- and- butter economic issues where we have the wind at our back (i.e., raising the minimum wage, income inequality, job creation).

-- Speaking of economic issues, Paul Krugman writes about the paranoia of the plutocrats, and why progressives should see it as a sign we're doing something right.

Fux's Frivolous Fixes

Fux "News" rolled out a fancy-shmancy new set for its daytime guy, Shepard Smith, complete with enormous touch screens and lots of white light.  Thankfully, it didn't escape the notice (and derision) of Jon Stewart, who noted at one point, "Hey Fox, I think you're fixing the non-broken part."  Bwahaha.

Quote of the Day - The Fox "Media Colostomy Bag"

How to go about saving the Rethuglican Party from itself?  Michael Tomasky notes recent attempts by right-wing pundits to offer solutions, but it's Tomasky who hits the nail on the head over and over in his excellent piece:

"We all know the problem. It’s Rush Limbaugh and his imitators and Roger Ailes and his network. They drive this hatred daily, and they intentionally misinform and lie; you think it’s an accident that polls always find Fox viewers the least connected to empirical reality? Pushing this fury and constructing this alternate reality is great for business. But it’s horrible for America. And the “serious” conservative pundits by and large try to pretend it doesn’t exist, or it’s not that bad, or MSNBC does the same thing in reverse. Well, it does exist, it is that bad, and no, MSNBC does not do the same thing in reverse. MSNBC has an agenda, but it doesn’t craft its messages in such a way as to make its viewers hate half the country." (our emphasis)

When you have a base that has been on the receiving end of lies, distortions and hate for, in some cases, half a century,  it's hard to turn things around in one or two election cycles.  There would have to be a concerted, sustained effort by those in the party who are truly alarmed at the extremism to introduce their base to reality.  Disconnecting those people from their cherished prejudices and insane conspiracy theories means undoing the conscious efforts of the right-wing activists who captured the party apparatus decades ago in order to build just such an angry, driven political base.  Will they "unplug" hate radio and the Fox "News" machine?  We don't think that's likely in the forseeable future, if ever.

Would you believe a story about President Obama sending a 75,000 word e-mail to the entire population of the United States? Well, the dimbulbs at "Fox Nation," the Fox "News" website, thought it was true. So they ran with the item which had appeared in...um...The Onion! Yes, that one, the satirical on-line mag. Like all wingnuts, the gullible twits at "Fox Nation" live in their own reality, one which would allow for the President composing and sending a rambling, 75,000 word e-mail to every American! It is also a reality that apparently doesn't include the awareness that The Onion is a satirical site. And these are the idiots to whom the Democrats are losing the governance argument?!?

Fux News Joins "Lamestream Media"

Wonkette reports on the latest dumbassery from Fux News' shining star, Winky You Betcha, this time on Sean "Heil" Hannity's cavalcade-of-wingnuts tee-vee show. Check out who she cluelessly tags as a "lamestream media" outlet where she saw a caption saying Arizona's law made it "illegal to be an illegal."

As they say, if brains were gunpowder, Winky wouldn't be able to blow her nose. Now, what does that say about the geniuses who hired her? And her fans?

In Fux They Trust

Given the number of hardcore wingnuts, it's not surprising that a recent poll finds the Fux "News" Channel the "most trusted" source of television news. Not surprising, because these folks aren't looking for news, they're looking for a confirmation of their own biases and delusions, and Fux delivers the goods. As the pollsters put it:

"A generation ago Walter Cronkite was the most trusted name in the country because of his neutrality. Now people trust Fox the most precisely because of its lack of neutrality. It says a lot about where journalism is headed."

Ironically, ABC News finished last in trust in the poll; ABC News is the network of White House Correspondent Jake "Tippy" Tapper, who defended Fux News as a "sister organization" after it was called out by White House officials last fall.

Quote of the Day

"This gives her a platform she can use to stay relevant...and to flush out some of her policy positions." -- Todd "Toad" Harris, Rethug consultant who couldn't name anything the Rethugs had done for the country in the last 20 years, on Winky You Betcha's new job at Fux "News." (Hmmm - "stay relevant?" Didn't know she was.) Maybe she could get "Joe the (not a) Plumber" to help her flush those policy positions of hers down the Fux crapper. Merrie England May Be Less Merrie Now

Lachrymose loser Glenn "Boo Hoo" Beck is on the telly in Britain, thanks to Rupert "Fux" Murdoch's Sky Television, which is broadcasting Boo Hoo's show there. Alex Massie has a Brit's take on Boo Hoo and his apocalyptic glibertarianism, so different from the conservatism being practiced in Britain and elsewhere in Europe. A few choice takes:

TerrorFirst!

With the takeover of Our America by B. Hussein Omuslin, We Real Americans need to be even more vigilant when it comes to the Muslins, Messicans, and other Suspicious Brown People lurking in our neighborhoods. So, it's with great relief that we see that, as usual, our favorite news network, Fox, is ahead of the curve and has a TerrorFirst! mobile news unit up and running at ground zero (otherwise known as Central Tennessee). Yes, the Murfreesboro affiliate is on the lookout for anyone resembling a nazisocialistdemocommiemuslin (e.g., BHO); according to the logo on the back of the truck, there's no need to call: "Honk if you see terror happening."
