Doughy Pantload and the Pulitzer Prize

After a few years writing on this blog, we found it tedious to keep up with the fast pace of moronic droppings from the various wingnut and Rethuglican shills (Michelle Malkin, Wee Willie Kristol, Heil Hannity, etc.) But we just couldn't resist Alex Pareene's takedown of someone we've been forced to pay attention to lately: wingnut auteur and all-around laughingstock Jonah "Doughy Pantload" Goldberg. What did Doughy Pantload do this time? Well, this beneficiary of wingnut welfare, who the Kaplan Daily recently graced with valuable column space so he could continue his ad hominem jihad against all things "liberal," is apparently so insecure that... well, let's let Pareene tell the story:

"Jonah Goldberg is a syndicated columnist, author of books and National Review Online editor because his mother nearly took down Bill Clinton. He is, it’s fair to say, aware of that fact, or at least aware that everyone else thinks it, and his insecurity has made him a uniquely pathetic figure in contemporary conservative thought: He aspires to be taken seriously as a public intellectual, but he is the world’s laziest thinker. It is a grand and wonderful joke that Jonah Goldberg, of all people, would write an entire book about how liberals rely on clichés instead of original thought and intellectual argument.

"On the back of my review copy of 'The Tyranny of Clichés,' Goldberg’s latest, it still claims that the author 'has twice been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.' That, of course, was revealed yesterday to be utter bullshit. He is a two-time entrant for Pulitzer consideration — to enter requires solely an application and a $50 fee — and while Goldberg claims not to have added that line to his bio, it appears everywhere he writes, and it’s hard to believe he hadn’t noticed it until this week. That said, I can’t imagine a person dumb enough to actually believe that Jonah Goldberg had been seriously considered for a Pulitzer..."

Readers should be aware that I, too, have been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize... just as soon as I get my application and $50 fee in.

Drunken Caller Hired by Daily Caller

Ninny Ginni Thomas, drunken Anita Hill serial caller and wife of Supreme Court mime Clarence Thomas, has been hired as a "special correspondent" by preppy Tucker "*ucker" Carlson's vanity e-rag The Daily Caller. The ethically sketchy Ninny, whose hubby couldn't seem to remember to report her 6-figure income on his financial disclosure form, will no doubt cover a full range of topics, from the astroturf teabag groups she fronts for, to what wine gives you the most courage to call an imaginary girlfriend of your hubby, to uncovering the latest proof that Obama's turning the country into a morally degenerate socialist/ mooslim dictatorship. When she's not making (hic) daily calls for The Daily Caller (hic), that is.

Tea Baggers: We Get Good Welfare, Not Bad Welfare

Few tea bagger/ Rethug candidates better demonstrate the disconnect between their idiotic, Randian rhetoric ("get gummint off my back!") and the reality of their willingness to take government benefits that they're entitled to (but think others aren't) than Alaska's "GI Joe" Miller. Matt Taibbi has an amusing piece in Rolling Stone about the...um, hypocrisy of these would-be rugged individualists (Sharron "Obtuse" Angle is another teatard example) who happily take their government benefits (Good Welfare) while railing against the "parasites" who take their unemployment insurance and other forms of social safety net benefits (Bad Welfare). All of which leads to our observation that you don't need a GPS to locate a tea bagger/ Rethug; all you need to do is plot where stupidity, selfishness, and lack of self-awareness intersect.

What's Wrong With the Post -- Part 3,456

Balloon Juice had the same reaction we did upon viewing another Amity Shlaes piece in the Washington Post's "Outlook" section today. Shlaes, who's been quoted favorably by an expert no less self-assured than Quill Will, is to the field of economics what Dumbya was to the field of electro-magnetics.

We, too, suspect the hand of "Mr. Dinky," a.k.a. Fred Hiatt (pictured here contemplating how much more perfect a world this would be had Herbert Hoover beaten that Commie FDR), our poster boy for "What's Wrong With the Post."
