Lou Dobbs Cancelled By Fox

Cue the sad trombones:

Fox News Media has canceled “Lou Dobbs Tonight,” the program hosted by television’s staunchest supporter of Donald Trump and of his assertions of voter fraud in the 2020 election, The Times has learned.

Dobbs’ program, which airs twice nightly at 5 and 7 p.m. Eastern on the Fox Business Network, will have its final airing Friday, according to a Fox News representative who confirmed the cancellation. Starting next week, the program will be called “Fox Business Tonight,” with rotating substitute hosts Jackie DeAngelis and David Asman, who filled in for Dobbs on Friday.

Dobbs, 75, remains under contract at Fox News but he will in all likelihood not appear on the company’s networks again. In addition to his Fox Business Network program, he occasionally turned up on the Fox News Channel as a commentator.

The cancellation comes a day after voting software company Smartmatic filed a $2.7 billion defamation suit against Fox News and three of its hosts — Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro. The company claims the hosts perpetuated lies and disinformation about Smartmatic’s role in the election, damaging its business and reputation.

We're certain the lawsuit had nothing to do with the dismissal.

Will he metastasize over to Newsmax or OANN?  We can hardly wait to find out (snark).

BONUSTwitterverse has comments.

Fox And Election Fraud Liars Sued

Go get 'em!

Rupert Murdoch’s Fox Corporation and three of its popular anchors are the targets of a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit filed on Thursday by a company that became a prominent subject of discredited theories about widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Smartmatic, an election technology company, filed the suit in New York State Supreme Court against the Fox Corporation, Fox News, and the anchors Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro. As part of the same action, the company is suing Rudolph W. Giuliani and Sidney Powell, who made the case for election fraud as guests on Fox programs while representing President Donald J. Trump.

Here's the introduction to the lawsuit, a tour de force of shade (pdf):

1. The Earth is round. Two plus two equals four. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the 2020 election for President and Vice President of the United States. The election was not stolen, rigged, or fixed. These are facts. They are demonstrable and irrefutable.

2. Defendants have always known these facts. They knew Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the 2020 U.S. election. They knew the election was not stolen. They knew the election was not rigged or fixed. They knew these truths just as they knew the Earth is round and two plus two equals four.

3. Defendants did not want Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to win the election. They wanted President Donald Trump and Vice President Michael Pence to win re-election. Defendants were disappointed. But they also saw an opportunity to capitalize on President Trump’s popularity by inventing a story. Defendants decided to tell people that the election was stolen from President Trump and Vice President Pence.

4. Defendants had an obvious problem with their story. They needed a villain. Theyneeded someone to blame. They needed someone whom they could get others to hate. A story of 2 good versus evil, the type that would incite an angry mob, only works if the storyteller provides the audience with someone who personifies evil.

5. Without any true villain, Defendants invented one. Defendants decided to make Smartmatic the villain in their story...

There will be a heavy cost to these enemies of our democracy -- bet on it.

The schadenfreude is sweet, and will only get sweeter.

Fox "News" Cranks Up Talk Of A Coup Against Trump

For several months now, outlets in the right- wing media swamp have been using the word "coup" to describe efforts to find out how deep the rot in the regime of Putin puppet Donald "Rump" Trump goes (spoiler alert: "How deep is the ocean, how high is the sky?").  Just in the last 24 hours, Media Matters has noticed the chorus has started singing with more vehemence than ever.  Notably, the bottom- dwelling party- before- country Quislings at Fox "News," are clearly using the same script and are dutifully stoking the ignorance and anger of their large audience of already ignorant and angry Trumpbots.

The inexcusable "Loopy Lou" Dobbs on last night's Sean "Heil" Hannity show bullshit spreader:
... This is an effort to subvert the administration of President Donald Trump. It is nothing less, it is an effort by the deep state to roll over a duly elected president and a legitimate government. And to break the will of the American people. This is no longer about Republicans and Democrats and conservatives and liberals, this is about a full on assault by the left, the Democratic party to absolutely carry out a coup d'etat against President Trump aided by the left-wing media.  (our emphasis)
"Deep state" = the laws of the United States of America and the people who enforce them.  But then, "Loopy Lou" has a long history of irresponsible, crackpot comments. They were so toxic and unhinged that CNN paid him a cool $8 million in 2009 just to make him go away; naturally, he found a welcome environment in the asylum known as the Fox network.  Here's a sampling of some of his greatest shits.

The uber- vile Jesse "Dirty" Watters on his show last night:
Donald Trump's family has done more for this country than any Democratic elected official. He has provided more jobs in the real estate industry, in the fashion industry, in the hotel and casino industry, he has created more wealth for anybody in this entire country. So to smear them as mafia or unpatriotic is absolutely shameful and I think everybody needs to wake up and realize this family is a patriotic family and what's happening right now is a coup against the will of the American people. (our emphasis)
The eminently punchable Watters is, of course, another toxic piece of work who fits in nicely with the kulture at Fox.  "The will of the American people" is actually that Trump should be impeached, asshole (and that poll was taken over a month ago, before the latest Russian collusion bombshells).

It's interesting how these far right Trump propagandists let the word/ concept "coup" trip off their tongues so easily. Are they projecting their fever dream of a pre- emptive coup that ends the probe into the Trump- Russia scandal, through shutting down the Mueller investigation and/ or issuing pardons to everyone whose name has come up in the probe?  No doubt their formulation will be tripping off the tongues of the colluding RNC and the cowardly Republican weasels in Congress in 3, 2, 1...

BONUS: Of course, "Oxycontin Rush" Limbaugh got a copy of the "coup" script yesterday, too, (refuse to link to the various crackpot sources (=cough= Wingnut Daily =cough=).

Shocking News! Loopy Lou's A Hypocrite!

Hola and move over Mega Noggin Whitman! We have another Rethuglican hypocrite who has railed against hiring illegal immigrants only to be found to have... hired illegal immigrants. It would appear that all the while gasbag Loopy Lou Dobbs was making $6 million a year bashing people who employed illegal immigrants, he had at least 5 illegal immigrants tending to his estate grounds and to his daughter's champion show horsies. Yes, the same Loopy Lou who, night after night from his perch at CNN, bashed the government for letting those Messicans in, bashed businesses for hiring them, and most of all bashed illegal immigrants themselves in his own smug, pompous and, now we know, hypocritical way. So, from now on we can be certain that when Loopy Lou's lips are moving, he's lying.

(Image: Loopy Lou's shocked, shocked to discover illegal immigration in his establishment!)

Take the Money. . . .Please!

Former CNN gasbag Loopy Lou Dobbs was apparently paid a cool $8 million by CNN just to leave the network. Loopy Lou's increasingly bizarre show, which must have spent 90% of its time bashing illegal immigrants (when only 1 or 2% of the population thought it was a major issue) over the past few years, was an embarrassment to CNN. Loopy's recent rants were about the President's birth certificate and the "socialist" agenda of Obama (who'll someday get credit for rescuing the financial market, GM and our free market economy in general).

Loopy Lou is going to be on Bill O'Liely's smearfest on Fux tonight, so he's probably auditioning for a spot in the Fux Channel's lineup. We think he'd work well as an Ed McMahon-type sidekick for Boo Hoo Beck: "And now, heeeeeerrrres Boo Hoo!!"

Hasta La Vista, Loopy Lou!

Loopy Lou Dobbs announced his immediate resignation from CNN on his broadcast tonight. Can Boo-Hoo be far behind? One can only hope...

UPDATE: Here's a compilation of some of Loopy Lou's more infamous moments. For future reference if, as Loopy is hinting, he runs for elective office.

Liar, Liar

Loopy Lou Dobbs and the taco terrorists.

Dick "The Dick" Cheney and his tragic case of amnesia.

And, of course, the hive of wingnuttia, the Fox Nutwork 24/7 (hilarious Stewart piece). (BTW, don't expect anything close to this insightful an analysis from Howie "Get That Job?" Kurtz.)

Wingnuts are such crappy liars.

Hasta La Vista, Loopy Lou?

CNN is under renewed pressure to fire immigrant-bashing winger Lou "Loopy Lou" Dobbs, who has been carrying on a nasty campaign for years against undocumented immigrants from Latin America. Embarrassingly, CNN is trying to lure Hispanic viewers through its programming ("Latino in America"), but major Hispanic media organizations and advocacy groups aren't buying it and are accusing CNN of hypocrisy. Loopy Lou is reportedly angling for a job with the Fux Business cable channel -- what a perfect fit that would be -- where he would join the loon John "Pornstache" Stossel, the self-styled libertarian who used to appear on "20/20" and complain about any government involvement in anything. (If he and Pornstache can coexist, that is.)

CNN can't have both Loopy Lou and a significant Hispanic audience. It's a little like expecting Glenn "Boo Hoo" Beck to have an audience of sane people.

UPDATE:
According to Fux's house Latino Geraldo "El Moustachio Grande" Rivera, (Li'l Latin?) Loopy Lou won't be coming to his Nutwork.

Is Loopy Lou Circling the Drain?

An Associated Press story reports that CNN's resident wingnut Lou "Loopy Lou" Dobbs has become an increasing embarrassment to his network. Last year, Dobbs was incessantly yapping about the threat of "illegal immigrants" spreading leprosy, etc. and creating a national security problem. Polls at the time showed that Americans were more concerned about hair products than about illegal immigration, but Dobbs pressed on. Recently, Loopy Lou been on a crusade about Obama's birth certificate, despite stories on his own network that proved the birther claims utterly false. Now, his cringe-worthy broadcast has fallen 15% in viewers, and CNN's brass is getting nervous about Loopy Lou. About time.

Right Wing Heroes Kill 9-Year Old, Father

As Rising Hegemon reports in "Thanks, Lou Dobbs", you can add two more notches to the right-wing-fringe death count: a 9-year-old girl and her father, killed in Arizona in a home invasion burglary conducted by larcenous members of the "Minuteman American Defense" group. The intent, according to police, wasn't ideological; the lowbrows simply wanted to rob the family and kill any witnesses. Let's see how Lou "Incite the Mobs" Dobbs plays this one.

From The Unintentional Humor Department

We saw this clip on Think Progress of the perpetually outraged Lou Dobbs, wagging his oversized head in mock disbelief. He thinks there's a reason for impeaching the Chimpster. Lying to get us into war? Warrantless wiretaps? Using U.S. attorneys to go after political opponents? Keep guessing.

Food poisoning from tomatoes.

Lou, you're a funny guy, except when you're trying to be funny. The next thing you'll be saying is that it's a plot by illegal Meskins to poison our salsa.

Just kidding about the salsa, Lou, don't quote us. Lou? LOU!! Uh oh, it's too late.

Get A Grip, Lou

Just caught the delusional Lou "Meskin Menace" Dobbs on CNN's "Situation Room." Wolf "Man" Blitzer opened by asking Dobbs if he had ruled out running for President. (Let's wait a moment until the laughter subsides).

The self-important talking head responded that, while he never says "never", it's not looking like something he wants to do. Doesn't fit his temperament. Of course not. To run for office would expose this obnoxious bloviator to scrutiny that his colleagues and superiors at CNN have never exposed him to. Can you imagine how quickly this blow-dried souffle of a Tee Vee personality would collapse in an actual political campaign? Dobbs imagines his supporters number in the millions, but in truth, he'd be lucky to out-poll Rethug Duncan Hunter, or crazy Dem Mike Gravel.
