Pardon Me ... And Me ... And Me

Names were named at today's January 6 insurrection hearing:   Republican/ Seditionist Congressmen who were looking for a presidential pardon for their actions in service of the Malignant Loser's coup attempt (can you say "consciousness of guilt"?):

Rep. Matt Gaetz (Pedo Seditionist-FL), in particular, requested a pardon that went "from the beginning of time up until today, for any and all things."   (Translation:  "Please make that underage sex trafficking case against me go away, too!")

All of the two- legged rats requesting pardons are frothing, well- known enemies of American democracy.  One of them, Rep. Mo Brooks (Seditionist-AL) appears to be eager to extract some vengeance on the Malignant Loser for double- crossing him in his effort to win the Republican nomination for Senate in Alabama.  The next round of hearings unspool in mid- July and promise to continue to expose the criminality of the Malignant Loser and his sychophants.

Clip Of The Day -- Unethical Moron Says What?

Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert, arguably the Dumbest Person in Congress (locked in a close race with MTG, Boebert, and Tuberville), is offended that Republicans can't lie to Congress and the FBI and get away with it.  Sic transit gloria, America.

Louie Gohmert's New Nickname

House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Trumper-CA) just coined a new nickname for dimbulb Rep. Louie Gohmert's (R-Loon):

McCarthy himself is one of the worst of the worst.  But we'll accept his characterization of "Congressman COVID" Gohmert (btw, thoughts and prayers!).

Monday Reading

As always, please go to the links for the full article/ op eds.

Paul Krugman takes a look at how the Republicans are already framing Democrats as "socialists" (with the help of the usual enablers), and what label comes closer for Republicans:
Leading Republicans, however, routinely describe Democrats, even those on the right of their party, as socialists. Indeed, all indications are that denunciations of Democrats’ “socialist” agenda will be front and center in the general election campaign. And everyone in the news media accepts this as the normal state of affairs.

Which goes to show the extent to which Republican extremism has been accepted simply as a fact of life, barely worth mentioning.
To see what I mean, imagine the media firestorm, the screams about lost civility, we’d experience if any prominent Democrat described Republicans as a party of fascists, let alone if Democrats made that claim the centerpiece of their national campaign. And such an accusation would indeed be somewhat over the top — but it would be a lot closer to the truth than calling Democrats socialists.
In the meantime, Democrats can keep reminding voters of those unpopular "socialist" programs they gave us like Social Security, Medicare, etc., etc., that Republicans have been fighting against since long before Ronnie Raygun was shilling for General Electric.

It should come as no surprise that the treason caucus is planning to disrupt the testimony by Robert Mueller on July 17:
Republican lawmakers plan to derail the highly anticipated hearing where special counsel Robert Mueller will testify on his investigation of President Donald Trump.

The president’s GOP allies in the U.S. House of Representatives are signaling that they intend to undermine Mueller’s credibility and seek to portray him as a biased operative leading a “coup” against Trump, reported Politico.
Hold on.  Now, check out this piece of gaslighting from arguably the dumbest bag of rocks in Congress, who's speaking about Mueller and not about Putin's puppet:
“He’s done some irreparable damage to some things and he’s got to answer for them,” said Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), who will take part in back-to-back hearings of the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees.
The Texas Republican said the special counsel’s report did not change his long-held negative opinion of the FBI director.

“It reinforced the anal opening that I believe Mueller to be,” Gohmert said, using an apparent euphemism to slur Mueller.
Well, he's one to know about assholes.

Picking up on the category of "it takes one to know one," there's this:

Not judging this guy, for instance:

"Not moral," indeed.  That's something the world has known for some time now.

Meanwhile, the hometown newspaper of Otto Warmbier had this to report, as his name trended on Twitter:
President Donald Trump's visit to North Korea has started more calls of outrage against the president, who some feel has forgotten about Otto Warmbier.

On Sunday, Trump became the first U.S. president to set foot in North Korea during a meeting in the Demilitarized Zone with Kim Jong Un.

"It's just an honor to be with you and it was an honor that you asked me to step over that line," Trump told the North Korean leader. "And I was proud to step over that line."

Trump added that it was "a great day for the world."

But many were outraged by the meeting due to North Korea's treatment of Otto Warmbier, a 21-year-old college student from the Cincinnati suburb of Wyoming, who died shortly after being returned to his family after 15 months in captivity in North Korea.

"Trump just cited return of US hostages as a sign of goodwill from North Korea, seeming to forget Otto Warmbier was returned brain damaged and near death," said CNN host Jim Sciutto.

The #unwantedivanka hashtag is trending on Twitter, rightfully mocking the First Shady's attempts to crash meetings of serious people at the G-20 and in Korea.

Is Gohmert Off His Meds Again?

That would be crackpot Rep. "Screwy" Louie Gohmert (R- Texass):
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said Sunday that he believes there is a conspiracy within the Department of Justice to destroy President Trump.
“We have a conspiracy remaining afoot in the Department of Justice that is out to destroy this president and they’ve got to be fired, if not worse,” Gohmert told Fox News. [snip]
“We need to round up everybody he [James Comey] talked to, because they were all conspiring against the president,” he said.
We're sure Louie and his druz'ya  friends could find a gulag for those "conspirators."

We'd like to thank the fine people of the 1st Congressional district in Texass for sending Louie to Washington. You may want to check from time to time to see if he's taking his medications, though.

If Our Wishes Came True . . .

. . . this man would be the next Speaker of the House.  That would be teahadist lunatic Rep. Louie "Screwy Louie" Gohmert (Peanut-TX), regularly cited as the Dumbest/ Craziest Person in Congress (and boy, is that a wide-open, competitive field!).  Gohmert's plan to challenge the gonad-free current Speaker John "Mr. Tangerine Man" Boehner isn't expected to amount to much (just like Gohmert -rimshot-), but it doesn't bode well for Senate Majority =hock patooey= Leader Mitch "Missy" McConnell's "main goal" for Republicans heading into 2016:  "don't be scary." Good luck with that genius strategy!

Just this one Republican Congresscritter has it in himself to explode Missy's well-laid plans to camouflage the bottomless nut dish that is the modern Republican/ New Confederate/ Stupid/ White Supremacist/ Anti-Science/ Climate Change Denying Party.  They can try to put Louie under wraps, but there's a boundless supply of scary Louie's in the House and Senate eager to grift challenge "the establishment" (i.e., empty the pockets of gullible rubes).  For example, fellow teahadist Rep. Ted "Yahoo" Yoho (Swamp-FL) is also expected to challenge Boehner.  You just can't fix stupid/ crazy/ scary.

You Said It

"Wow. Washington has not seen a gathering of intellects like that since the last time Dan Quayle dined alone." -- Charles P. Pierce on Sen. "Tailgunner Ted" Cruz' shutdown/ debt ceiling hostage-taking "strategery" meeting with 15-20 of the most reactionary Republican dimbulbs in the House, including Reps. "Screwy Louie" Gohmert, Steve "Lyin'" King,  Jim "Air(head)" Jordan, and Justin "Mish" Amash.

Today's Dispatches From The Stupid Party

We're going to have to create a whole separate wing in this feature just for the Stupid Party's Representative from the 1st District in Texas, Rep. "Screwie Louie" Gohmert.  The pea-brain keeps laying on the dumb -- and not just dumb, but incredibly insensitive, heartless dumb:
At a congressional committee hearing to discuss a proposed measure to criminalize abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, a Texas lawmaker [ed. - that would be Gohmert] told a woman who made the difficult choice to terminate a non-viable pregnancy that she should have carried the fetus to term anyway — even though an MRI had already revealed that he was missing a large part of his brain and didn’t have much chance of survival.
Perhaps Gohmert feels a kinship with anyone missing a large part of their brain?  It's hard to imagine, but Gohmert was recently reelected with 70 percent of the vote.  Was the 1st District gerrymandered to include every knuckle-dragging moron in east Texas?

Stupid Party Hero of the Week

The first Stupid Party Hero of the Week is [drum roll] Rethuglican Rep. Louie "I'm As Dumb As I Look" Gohmert (Stupid Party-TX).   Louie gets the inaugural SPHW award for his response to the White House's cancelling of tours due to the sequestration.  Specifically, Louie introduced this amendment to a continuing resolution funding government operations:

"None of the funds made available by a division of this Act may be used to transport the President to or from a golf course until public tours of the White House resume."

We're surprised Louie didn't also use this opportunity to require that the President be prohibited use of a teleprompter at gummint expense.   Yes, he's as dumb as he looks, making him the perfect representation of The Stupid Party.

Today's Dispatches From The Stupid Party

Today's proof that, as James Carville noted (post below), "if it sounds stupid and cruel... it's a Republican thing."

We wouldn't want real 'murricans gettin' their hands dirty:
"A top conservative in the House of Representatives told NPR Thursday morning that he opposes bipartisan proposals to allow undocumented immigrants to earn a path to citizenship, but would support expanding 'a guest-worker program for immigrant-labor-dependent U.S. agriculture' to ensure that farms have a steady stream of foreign labor to fulfill the 'dirtiest jobs.'”
That would be Rep. Bob Goodlatte (Rethug-VA), who also recently introduced an un-Constitutional bill to abolish the Federal income tax because FREEDUMB!

Then there's fellow Rethug Rep. Louie Gohmert (Squirrel-TX) who's responsible for this bit of crackpottery:
"Tea Party Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX) told a conservative radio show on Thursday that the GOP must oppose gun regulations to protect the country from the threat of 'Sharia Law.'”
Obviously, that's a stone-dumb fella there.  Further comment would be a waste of electrons.

Finally, we swing by Kansas, where Rethuglican State Rep. Dennis Hedke is proposing a bill that:
"... prohibits public funds from being used 'either directly or indirectly, to promote, support, mandate, require, order, incentivize, advocate, plan for, participate in or implement sustainable development.' Hedke said he brought the bill at the request of some constituents. 'I felt like it was a responsible thing to go ahead and let that debate perhaps come out,' Hedke said."
Hedke has to know better, since he's a professional geophysicist.  But one wonders what knuckle-dragging  constituents Hedke was, um, knuckling under to... wait... what's that?  He has a client list of 30-some oil and gas companies?  Mystery solved!

Party of One

From a news story:
"The House voted on Wednesday to strike the word 'lunatic' from all federal laws and only one lawmaker voted against the measure: Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas)."
Bwahahahaha!

Louie "Goober" Gohmert is clearly looking after his own interests.

Some of teahadist favorite Goober's "greatest" hits have been compiled here.

Screwy Louie's Flameout

One of the stranger nutbags among House Rethuglicans is Texas Congressman Louie "Screwy Louie" Gohmert, who has been on a "terror babies" kick for some time. Yesterday, he appeared on Anderson Cooper's "360" program and proceeded to perform a full wingnut meltdown. Pressed by Cooper to present evidence that a former FBI official told him that a plot was afoot to have babies of foreign nationals born in the U.S. return later to commit terror acts, Screwy Louie couldn't. He then ramped up the incoherence and volume, while Cooper patiently tried to get Screwy Louie to provide the evidence.

This is what the Rethuglican / New Confederate Party has become: a collection of wingnuts, bigots and kooks that a generation ago couldn't get face time on local cable access. Now, this delusional behavior has become mainstream among Rethugs.

Screwy Louie's "Things I Learnt In History Class"

Think Progress reports on Texas Rethug Rep. Screwy Louie Gohmert's criticizing President Obama for being mean to BP. Just another Rethug saying what the rest of them are thinking but are too cowardly to let the public know? True. But Gohmert, being the certified cashew that he is, has to go a few, um, goosesteps further by comparing Obama to... wait for it: Hitler (yawn). Quoting an article by fellow cashew Thomas "Not" Sowell, Screwy Louie likes what he sees in Sowell's flaky analysis of the establishment of the BP compensation fund and its clear (to Sowell and Screwy Louie at least) antecedent in Hitler's rise to power. He must've been reading those new, revisionist text books the State of Texas has ordered up -- you know, the ones celebrating Jefferson Davis and saying the Founding Fathers created a Christian nation?!

And these are the jackasses that are supposed to be capturing the House in November? God help us.
